Levent Mado — Attraction in Beşiktaş

Terrible place. Don't recommend.

We went to this place on our first day in Istanbul and immediately encountered a scam. The food was tasty and fresh. However, the service was poor; none of the staff spoke English and couldn't recommend anything from the menu. When we asked for water, they brought one of the most expensive bottled waters, while locals were served water in glasses.

We chose seats in the non-smoking area to avoid unpleasant smells, but people at the next table were smoking. It's unclear why they label it a non-smoking area if the neighboring table smokes.

The worst part came when it was time to pay the bill. We wanted to pay by card, but supposedly their terminal didn't accept our card, even though we had used it an hour earlier. We offered to pay in dollars, and suddenly the bill was one and a half times higher. The waiter grabbed the $100 bill from our hands and left, bringing back incorrect change in TL, much less than it should have been. We were shocked by the staff's behavior and yelling. We took what we had and left, not wanting to deal with them...

We had an awful experience at this restaurant. The food was not fresh—the chicken smelled bad and even had a black color, which was completely unacceptable. When we approached the manager about it, instead of helping us, he was extremely rude and dismissive. He only took action after we insisted and argued with him, which should never be necessary in a customer service situation.

After all the unnecessary drama, he finally refunded our money, but the whole experience was frustrating and unprofessional. No customer should be treated this way. We will not be coming back until they change the manager.
