Port Square — Attraction in Beyoğlu

Our cruise ship docked here right across from the Istanbul Modern Museum. The port is so lovely and lively. Unlike other cruise ports where you go through a big ugly building, all the transit is done underground and above, right across from the ship are restaurants, retails, cafes and a promenade where locals come to hangout and feel the breeze. It’s so close to Istanbul central. You can walk up to Taksim Square or take a short tram ride to see the famous landmarks. The port is completely lacking in shaded areas, which made the experience extremely uncomfortable. We had to wait in the scorching sun with no shelter whatsoever, and the heat was unbearable. There are no seating areas protected from the sun, no umbrellas, and no effort to make passengers feel comfortable while waiting. This is especially disappointing for a facility that receives so many visitors.
