My first Hammam ever. Went there with my husband. The place is simple, original, small, "sincere", very different from the glamorous western SPAs I attended before. I liked exactly this fact: the "original" Turkish atmosphere. It's an ancient place, eventually. The steam room is totally made of white, vivid marble, with a round roof with holes that let the light get in. After a while, we got the scrub and the foam massage, one by one, in a dedicated room. After that, the massage, very long and accurate, (we chose the "gold" solution). I was offered tee between the foam and the oil massage. About the gender topic, since I read some other reviews: yes, it's a mixed Hammam, and I didn't know about it, but I could guess, since the steem room is only one, even though I didn't think they existed in Turkey. The scrub + foam is made by a man, both to my husband, first, then to me. I didn't feel at all any bad intention from the operator, though I was a little bit in discomfort because I expected a woman. Of course the experience is somehow intimate, (but no misunderstanding at all) because the cleaning is a ritual between you ad the operator, in a small place, (and he showers himself too) , and it's thoroughly done, even inside the nose! I asked in advance if I had to wear the bathing suit, and the girl at the entrance told me I could wear the top or not, as I preferred (and I didn't wear it, so I was topless). After that, since we didn't say that we both wanted the longest massage, my husband (who was the first to have the cleansing) was having his massage by a woman, so that the operator told me that if I wanted the girl, for the massage, I had to wait till the end of my husband's, since they were only two workers. And if I wanted to have it at once, he was the only option, and I said I was fine with him. Everything went more than fine. I think it's the best massage I've ever had in my life, long, accurate, professional. Everything ended with 15 minutes face mask. Everything ok with the payment, we paid what we were told. I didn't give 5 stars only because I think they should improve the communication of the mixed gender thing, also the fact the a man can clean both men and women. Locals know this habit for sure, but for foreign visitors it would be useful, nonetheless it would avoid unlikely misunderstandings. Thank to the family who runs the place I had a super genuine and very...
Read moreI have mix of feelings with this place.
It could have perfect but because of small details the experience was not as great as it could have been.
I arrived and I had to be waiting for 15 minutes although I had a reservation.
I got the feeling they get more people that they can manage.
They don't explain anything to you, they send you from one place to another. A initial explanation would improve the customer's experience.
I went into the sauna for 13 minutes, I had to get our myself cause I couldn't stay in there anymore.
Then I had to wait 2/3 minutes outside to go inside the Turkish bath cause there was someone inside.
They way they clean the spaces from my point of view is a bit poor. When I entered in the Turkish bath the foam of previous person was there. One lady came and she just pour some water on top. The items they use for the scrub I'm afraid are the same ones for everyone or at least they do not use a new one for everyone. I doubt they even clean it... I rather not to think abour it. The foam massage was good, the guy really knows how to do it but I could felt he was rushing cause more people waiting.
After the Turkish bath I went into the oil massage which was great but with continuous interruptions to the therapist. They keep talking amongst them and destroy your relaxation and the enjoyment of the massage. I could feel the owner was rushing the therapist to finish cause more people were waiting.
I liked it but because there small details they might ruin the customers experience.
It could have been a 5/5 but because of all this details it ended...
Read moreMy friend and I went last month together. Communication was very straight forward, so was pricing. I finally felt as if the locals weren’t trying to get more money out of me. The reason I give it two stars is because we felt abandoned while in there. My friend and I were thrown into the changing room and told to dress down, we did. We then went to the sauna with no direction, do we dump water on ourself? Lay down? Stand? How long do we wait in here for? After about 20 minutes my friend, who has gone to dozens of Hammams said something isn’t right and went out of the sauna to look for the employees. About 5 minutes go by and they come into the sauna and take us to a small bathing room. My friend and I were a little annoyed because we wanted to talk and chat with each other while getting cleaned but we were separated. The whole cleaning process was just alright. Nothing crazy. I received a small massage that felt like his elbows were going through my back. I tolerated it but it jacked up my shoulder pretty bad after.
The place was clean for supposedly being 300 years old. The bath was a 2/5 star, the building looked like a regular house, the massage was a 1/5 star. Communication 5/5 and price point 3/5.
Maybe we came on...
