Wow what a wonderful Sunday afternoon walk. We parked on Bathwick Hill and we were lucky to park at the start of the route (it is sign posted). The start of the route was very impressive with some stunning Georgian houses. We were too busy looking at houses that we nearly missed the small lane on the right, leading up a small path to the start of the Skyline walk. The walk is up hill for a while and was very muddy due to heavy rainfall the previous evening. Hopefully my pictures will help with directions. I can assure you that the uphill is worth it when you are awarded with magnificent views of the city. A lot of the walk for a while is narrow woodland paths, very slippery under foot (we went in March) these woodlands came out on to a long walk over open fields. We were a little unsure of where to go but there are a few sign posts that helped. These fields lead into more woodland that was slippery. The route is clear though and easy to follow from here. The walk was signposted and we navigated our way to Bath University. We did get lost a little due to the instructions saying about a style over a wall. There is now a new wooden gate that leads out on to the road in Claverton Down by Bath cats and dogs home. The rest of the route was well signposted from now on. Beautiful views awaited us when we came out on to widcombe hill. It was a lovely walk back across the fields to the car. It took us 2hours and 50 mins. The guide says 3 1/2 hours. It was just under 7 miles. It was not an easy walk, there is a lot of up hill walking that was slippery at times. The views are amazing 🤩. Bath is a beautiful city.

The Bath skyline walk is fantastic 👌 It not only takes you out into Beautiful countryside but also gives you fantastic views over the city of Bath. The route is about 6 miles and took us about 3 5 hours although we weren't speedy. Keep an eye out for the yellow direction arrows and you will be fine, although there are a couple of areas where there are no markers for a bit. Spectacular views and we kind of wished we had taken a picnic but sadly we didn't. The route can be steep up and down hill in places and there are a few sets of steps. Also the path especially through wooded areas can be uneven and rough under foot and there are a couple of obstacles to navigate, but then this is a country walk. The paths around Claverton down are very flat and easy under foot. Was nice seeing they were restoring dry stone walls. Definitely wear sensible shoes and take water 👌It's a good route and has stunning views, if you take small children expect to end up carrying them. Probably not suitable for people unsteady on their feet. Definitely worth the experience and we walked back to the city centre along the canal.

If the thought of going on a 3hr hike just gives you the boke/if you have physical health conditions that restricts you from engaging in this activity but you still want to see the view, I highly recommend parking on Bathwick Hill (near Smallcombe House). You can park on the road for free and there's an entrance to the top of the skyline just there (you won't miss it, it's clearly signposted by The National Trust). This enables you to enjoy the amazing view of Bath, have a short walk around the fields up there and take a perch on the benches or on the ground if you're able to. It really is so beautiful. Photos on my phone don't do it justice but have included one for a preview anyway :). You really need to see it for yourself.
