Atmosphere - 0/10 - if you're not local you're not welcome
Table - 0/10 - shoved in a corner and sat on what can only be likened to a church pew. Absolutely ideal spot, if you're a contortionist.
Food - 0/10 - lukewarm, distinct lack of seasoning, some very basic fundamentals overlooked. Sent the bitter and dry steak back and skipped main, not ideal on NYE.
Service - 0/10 - The worst I've ever experienced. Rude, dismissive, unprofessional, arrogant.
When our puddings were brought out the waitress asked "who's having what" which was followed up by "well it doesn't really matter as you haven't liked anything so far"
Having to do a double take as I was so taken aback at her comments I asked "did you just say what I thought you said" she then joyfully replied "yep, pretty much" and sauntered off looking extremely pleased with her self.
After picking my jaw up off the floor I popped to the mens room for some relief from the library of horrific events that we now know as the White Hart and on my way back I again had the misfortune of being met by the bundle of unbridled joy that was our waitress.
She offered an apology for her comments that matched the food she was serving, lukewarm and devoid of any sincerity or passion.
This establishment is a blot on the culinary landscape and on this particular NYE they not only let themselves down but an entire industry of independently owned pubs. Feel free to hang your...
Read moreGreat food. Social distancing felt safe. Signing in less so (names and phone numbers in a visitor book for all to see). Toilet access was through the restaurant as the direct door from toilet hallway to garden was locked.
We sat in the garden which felt safer for us as a group of four friends. We had a two course set menu Sunday roast. Three of us had a prawn arancini and I had the potatoe and thyme soup. All were delicious. For mains, one had chicken and chipolata in bacon, two had lamb rump and mini shepherds pie and I had the roast beef. The beef was delicious and cooked too perfection but the large Yorkshire pudding was 70% burnt which was disappointing. The lamb portions were generous and apparently tasty. I would choose option this next time. There were vegetables to share which also cooked perfectly.
I would recommend a Sunday lunch at the pub. The food was excellent and it felt a safe place to visit with the current Covid-19...
Read moreAmateurish and overpriced! I was given a menu and I ordered a pint. I was in no rush and I took my time over the menu (20 minutes or so). When I eventually attracted someone's attention to order I was informed everything had been pre-ordered and the was no food left. It was Sunday lunchtime, which I know can be busy, but I tried to order a little after 12:30, that's pretty early for Sunday lunch! How can there be nothing left of ANY of the items in the entire menu? Why was I not informed when I received the menu that this may happen? Why was I never approached again and left with a menu although I couldn't order any food? Incredibly unprofessional! The food looked good but that doesn't count if you can't get any. The decor is rustic with a lot of hard surfaces which made the place exceptionally noisy when only half full. The very average pint cost £6. The good news is I found a much better place to eat closer to the...
