The 3 or 4 ladies who looked after us today were awesome, you should be proud of yourselves and management should be likewise.
Our party was two couples, two babies, one cocker spaniel and a pram. With the rugby being on I called up to book a table for initially just a few beers and catch up, this process was simple and easy. Despite being 15 minutes late (babies!) the ladies behind the bar were very welcoming and helped us get the pram stowed.
We ordered some starters which were well-priced and yum! When one of our party realised a certain ingredient they were allergic too (parsley/coriander) may have been in our food she asked the staff and they said it was and that the chef had offered to make a repeat dish free of these ingredients and free of charge! They weren't asked and probably wouldn't have been but offered! In my book this meets my benchmark for 'exceeding' expectations!
We ended up staying for the rugby (two of us anyway, and the dog) and at some point were offered free leftover roasties and gravy which were both lush and hot. The cocker Spaniel soon noticed these goodies and one of the team noticed her interest and got a separate plate with mashed up roasties and gravy for the dog!
Excellent experience all round, customer service 101 and we will certainly be back. Thoroughly impressed, well done and thank...
Read moreWent to this pub to watch the England game, whilst we were there the staff behaved very unprofessionally towards a neighbouring table. At one point after celebrating an England goal with cheering and some football songs one bar tender banged the table so forcefully it spilled several full pints over the seated customers, he then berated them for cheering too loudly. This seems ridiculous considering they were hosting the England game and they were not celebrating too loudly or unreasonably. The pints were replaced and the bar staff looked a little embarrassed after. Then, when we were preparing to leave the pub the landlord approached a nearby customer who was standing waiting for his friends to collect their items and leave and began to shout at him to take a seat, pointing at a seat which was not on his table. The customer refused saying he was leaving but the landlord persisted and became much more aggressive until he grabbed the customer by the throat and threw him onto a stool. I have never seen pub staff behave this way and assault a customer like that. Quite a shocking experience. Would it recommend this pub, the landlord has...
Read moreWe were looking for a very good Sunday roast and asked a local where we should go. They had suggested this place to us so we trusted them and went. What an absolutely fantastic suggestion that local gave us. This was by far the best Sunday roast I have ever had. (it might even beat my own mother’s roast..and that’s saying something.) The quality of the food was very very good. We did not have a reservation, but they still managed to squeeze us in. Which was great! The lady serving us was absolutely fantastic. She was very good at her job and very attentive. Whenever we are back in Bath next we will definitely return to this lovely pub. I must say it’s reasonably priced too as compared to some other Sunday roast’s in Bath they were coming in at over £20. But these guys came in at £17.95 for the chicken roast. Oh, we also had a portion of fries which were very nicely done too. 10/10...
