Pulteney House — Hotel in Bath

Well located, well organised and friendly B&B. Situated just outside the city centre of Bath this was a perfect base for our quick explore of this beautiful city. A 10 minute walk and you are right in the thick of the attractions and there's also a Tesco Express nearby for any essentials. Our room was nicely decorated and furnished. There was not loads of space for people living out of suitcases but there was hanging space and a couple of chairs for a sit down. The bed was big and comfortable. We did get a little train noise in the morning but not so much as to disturb us. The bathroom was good and the shower worked well. The breakfast was a highlight - great selection and beautifully cooked and presented. Also the welcome and service throughout was both friendly and efficient. We even got a discount card on our keys. My wife wanted a weekend away in Bath to celebrate our anniversary. Of all the great places I chose Pulteney house for its amazing reviews and its parking. We arrived a little early and had planned to drop bags and go explore, but our room was ready, we had a very warm welcome and taken to our room. The room was perfectly clean and stocked.| It was only a 10 min stroll into old town which was perfect for exploring. The only small negative and its was small is that we had a room at the front of the house that was a little noisy at night (window open) from the road other than that Pulteney house was just perfect. Das Pulteney-Gästehaus, ein privat geführtes kleines Hotel, liegt verkehrsgünstig an der Pulteney Road und grenzt östlich an die Innenstadt; letztere ist zu Fuß in 5 min erreicht, und die Bushaltestelle (bspw. zur Universität) ist nur 3 min entfernt. Äußerst freundlicher Empfang, geradezu herzlich, und über die recht steile Treppe ging es bei mir in ein typisch englisch eingerichtetes Zimmer im 1. Stock. Die Einrichtung wirkt altmodisch-anheimelnd, sogar richtig gemütlich. Im breiten und bequemen Bett habe ich bestens geschlafen. Kaffee/Tee kann morgens auf dem Zimmer zubereitet werden, prima. TV ist da, WLAN gratis, stark und schnell, hervorragend.|| ||Das Badezimmer ist groß (allerdings mit Dusche in Badewanne integriert), und leider muß in England die Mischbatterie noch erfunden werden. Also Waschbecken mit zwei Kränen, links kochend heiß und rechts eiskalt: normales Händewaschen geht nicht, ohne das Becken ganz mit Wasser zu füllen. Auch in der Badewanne zwei Kräne, gleiches Prinzip. Der Duschkopf jedoch hängt an einer elektrisch betriebenen Mischbatterie oder an einer Art Durchlauferhitzer, also kommt warmes (!) Wasser - aber dann blieb das Wasser nach ein oder zwei Minuten (und zwar NACH dem Einseifen) ganz weg. Überhaupt kein Wasser mehr, ganz plötzlich. Pech gehabt! Was nun? Also das Handtuch zum Waschlappen umfunktioniert, mit kochend heißem/eiskaltem Wasser aus zwei Kränen getränkt und den Körper damit umständlich entseift. Eine ganz neue Erfahrung! Hätte nicht sein müssen.||||Frühstück im Kellergeschoß, typisch englisch, also mit prächtigen Würstchen, Schinken, Ei, Toast, gebackenen Bohnen, Tomaten, rundherum sehr lecker. Ich wurde sehr freundlich bedient, Tee/Kaffee frisch zubereitet, dazu verschiedene Fruchtsäfte. Alles bestens also.||||Ich würde wiederkommen, aber das Duschen dann generalstabsmäßig vorbereiten, damit nicht... Durchaus...
