The layout for this ride is amazing, it can be rough sometimes and does make me think if I should put my head forward or backwards. The theming for this ride is great and being a fan of the saw franchise I really love this saw experience and feel like I'm part of a movie. There is a point in the queue line where a gun sound effect is played and absolute scared the ** out of me and friend and the stairs to the platform is incredible with references and moments from the saw franchise waiting for the ride is very tense and suspenseful as the timer is displayed above the cars which really gives the feel of being in a saw trap. Leaving the station in the pitch dark is one of the best feelings and really got my heart beating. The first drop in the dark may be my favourite element of any ride at Thorpe Park and it really put force on my body and I really thought the saw was going to cut off all of our heads. The vertical lift hill is petrifying and just when for a split second you think you can get a lovely view of the park you are dropped into the lovely loop and the rest of the ride is very impactful and gives a great view of Hyperia and when built will be the best view of the park. The music of this ride is absolutely incredible and really gives the tense atmosphere that the films and manage to capture and really achieves the scary and eerie atmosphere. Absolutely incredible and easily in the top 3 rides at...
Read moreSaw the ride. If I'm honest, I'm not sure why this ride is dedicated to a film franchise which has left me feeling sick and close to pass-out in a cinema. This theme for an amusement park is in bad taste. My 10 year old went on it and it left me answering some questions in line. I mean it could've been themed a little less "bight your face off" and more light hearted-ish. And I know you'll be thinking, why take your son on it? Well it's an amazing ride. The theme is off, but so well achieved. They've taken their time to get the queue decor right, for over 15's. It gets you in the right frame of mind for the actual ride. The ride is around a minute long and has some really nice drops and twists. My son hit his head a few times, side to side and my shoulders were rattled heavily. But it was worth it. Its safe to drop your bag off, they offer a drop off and collection facility, giving you a rubber band in return. I'm a big fan of this unique and I might add, original design of coaster. The company behind its design did a great job and this is one of my favourite rides at Thorpe Park. My son was fine riding it, he's a tough cookie, but other 10 year olds might find it a tad scary. Beware! But honestly, a great ride, out there themeing, and typical queue times, 45 mins average when we've gone. Though during Covid times and during a school week, we did it in 10...
Read moreIt's a shame about the horror theme. Don't get me wrong, it's obviously a horror-themed ride, so if horror's not your thing then you can't say you didn't know what to expect. But it'd be nice if it were possible to ride this exact roller coaster without if being themed by dead bodies covered in blood, mannequins of dead children, ride effects that make you feel like you're going to have your face impaled on spikes etc.
Think of this ride being like the Smiler at Alton Towers, but with a 'down' feel, rather than an 'up' feel. Tbh, there are too many rides at Thorpe Park that have a 'down' feel - Walking Dead, Ghost Train, Saw - it's all a bit gory and not to everyone's taste. Join the single rider queue to minimise your exposure to the horror effects and shut your eyes for the dark bit if watching people having their bodies mutilated in torture devices isn't your kind of film.
PS Also a bit weird is the bag drop/retrieval system that they operate - there's a booth in the station where you leave your bag like it's bowling shoes. Bearing in mind Stealth (same issue, different loading & unloading points) just has two-way shelves, why bother to have a staff and wristbands...
