A huge, unheated outdoor pool which is an unusual shape and still has its traditional fountain. The pool is situated in a large park with lots of (paid) car parking. I booked in advance via their website. At £11.95 per session it was quite expensive for an hour's swim, but the session was for the whole of the afternoon, so I fully appreciate the charges. It was a hot day, and the pool was full (which was being carefully monitored by the security staff on the door). Thankfully, those who had booked in advance could avoid the queue. Fairly limited number of changing cubicles, showers, and only 2 toilets in the ladies changing rooms. Lockers available at £1 refundable. Thankfully there is a small section of the pool (between the shallower/fountain/slide end and the deep/diving end) which was laned off for the handful of people who wanted to swim! The lifeguards did a good job of keeping the kids/dive bombers/inflatable doughnuts out of the lane and I had a relatively relaxing swim 🏊♀️🙏 The area which is laned for swimming is too deep to stand in, and the water temp (handily displayed on the changing building) was 21.4° in the middle of a heatwave. Very refreshing. Well done to all the staff who seemed to be taking the chaos of a capacity pool in...
Read moreVisited here today Sunday 17th July. With it being one of the hottest days of the year. Thought I visit here with my family and have fun in the sun.
Having got there at 12 the Lido had been open a few hours, there must of been over 1000 people in here already and they were still streaming in and waiting in line outside. We managed to find a piece of grass to base ourselves out of. The pool and grounds are really big, but with that amount of people it was very overwhelming. No space in the pools and generally no space anywhere. We stayed 30 mins and left having spent £28 to enter. The indoor pool was also shut, so the plan to go in there too went too. Positives: Entry was pretty quick. There’s changing rooms/toilets. The whole place is well kept and looks tidy. Lots of lifeguards around the pool. However there were far too many people. There should be a limit and also a time limit when in there.
My tip is go to the river but NOT between the Suspension Bridge & Road. Go further up steam the the quieter parts away from the masses. Today there were lots of travellers on the sports pitches. Not sure if this is a permanent camp or a...
Read moreThe outdoor Lido pool was closed this week but I attended with my child for the indoor pool however I had to pay full price for both of us for all pools even though on website it was priced by pool and session and the lido was closed, I was told thats what they charge, i didnt challenge it as it was my first time there. The changing rooms are tiny, the shared shower is for 3 people at a time with no privacy and you have to wait your turn, the indoor pool is not as big as other nearby pools, only 2 hairdryers in place 20p to use but both were not working. Also charges for parking which I wasn't aware of. So the cost added up. If I had know then would have gone to the Eccleshill indoor pool, which is bigger and better, cheaper and free parking! Also they have shared and private showers, bigger changing rooms and several showers also 20p which isn't a problem. Only been here once and definitely coming back unlike the Ilkley lido. Very dissapointed, especially as it was a longer distance away and I went based on some positive reviews I had...
