A very beautiful church I must say, however, the catholics clearly do not follow the Word of God. During the service, the preacher actually asked for intercession from the Apostles. This is not Scriptural because the Bible clearly teaches that the only mediator/intercessor between man and God [the Father] is Jesus Christ. Please see the following scriptures for verification [Romans 8:34; Hebrews 7:25; 1 Timothy 2:5].
Also, in the book of Matthew, Jesus says the following: “And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.” [Matthew 23:9]. I mention this because you will notice that the catholic preachers give themselves the title “father,” which the Lord Jesus said not to do.
The Bible also teaches that we are all meant to be “one” in Christ and that we were all baptised into “one” faith [Galatians 3:28; Ephesians 4:5], and yet I was refused communion, due to not being baptised as a “catholic,” even though I have been baptised in another church in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost/Spirit, as Jesus commanded [Matthew 28:19].
The Catholic Church really has their own religion, which is not true Christianity, and it really is a dangerous denomination - if it can be called that. To the people who belong to the Catholic Church, I would like to reiterate the words of God to you to: “come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” [2...
Read moreI visited on a Saturday as I wanted a place to pray. Was very beautiful church and nice that it's open in the middle of the day.
The only thing I will say that I didn't like is it seemed very money obsessed. There was a credit card mechine by the entrance, a stall selling stuff and different prices for different candles to offer to God with different prices. And everywhere you sat was a QR coad saying how you can give money with your phone. It all felt gross. I understand I come from the Baptist Church so there different things like collection that are church dosent do but I honestly I wasn't expecting the asking for money to be so in your face. Sorry to be so negative but I...
Read moreTucked away in a side street off Queen Street this Cathedral is a little gem. It's like a tardis - modestly sized outside but inside is a really big surprise. A beautiful cathedral which instils calmness and serenity. A wonderful place to pray or if you secular just to admire the beauty of the surprisingly light interior of a gothic style exterior design. You can feel the blood and sweat of the incoming 19th and 20th century Catholic Irish to the old coal port that contributed financially and physically to create such a wonderful,...
