Myself and my partner went here tonight for dinner. We were celebrating our 2 year anniversary and firstly - I was unaware of this but after leaving he told me that when he spoke to the restaurant on the phone and told them we were celebrating an anniversary they said they would have champagne on arrival on ice. This didn't happen, and what followed wasn't the best either.
So we chose our seats on arrival - we chose the far corner on the left as it was private and away from others. We weren't seen to for 10 - 15 minutes, not even for a drinks order. And no, it wasn't busy. We arrives at 6.45pm for our booking ans there were maybe 5 or 6 other tables, only 3 in our section.
When someone eventually comes over, we say that we're ready to order both drinks and food now.
Waitor was nice enough. Made our order, and our bottle of wine arrived shortly after.
It was a lovely bottle - the best of the reds.
Our food comes over, I ordered the half chicken and my partner ordered the beef cheeks. His was lovely, no complaints. We were missing one side but we mentioned this and it came out soon after.
Mine started off okay-ish. I thought it looked slightly undercooked but tasted okay so I carried on. I then said to my partner I was full and if he wanted the other part of my chicken. He took the chicken thigh over to his plate, I saw him begin to cut it then stop and stare.
I asked what was it... I looked at his plate and the chicken was VERY pink. And had bled a little when he cut into it.
That alone made me feel a little nauseous and obviously angered him too as we were out celebrating our anniversary.
We didn't have another come over yo check on us at all during the meal - normally someone always comes over briefly to ask if everything is okay, which in this case it wasn't, but we never had this.
So when a waitor comes over to take our plates and ask how it all was - my partner voices our opinions. Tells him that the service has been very slow, no one came to check on us, and that the chicken was undercooked.
This waitor was great. He asked if he could get my another piece of chicken, but I was already full at this point so kindly declined.
He takes our plates and swiftly comes back with a dedert menu asking if we'd like any deserts, which we didn't fancy by then. We asked for the bill and off he went.
Now, we never asked for any kind of discount, didn't ask for anything for our troubles; we were just going to pay the bill and leave.
But back comes the waitor with our bill. He apologises again for the inconvenience. Has deducted the chicken from the bill and also added a discount for us - which we did not mention.
We were thankful for this, as we just wanted to voice our experience and didn't expect anything from it; just beeded someone to be aware of it.
So, we will probably try this restaurant again. As my partners me was great, I probably won't go for the chicken again, but we do hope that Francisco the waitor is there again as he was absolutely brilliant and made us feel a whole lot better about the situation.
Neither one of us (me and my partner) have ever complained at a restaurant before, literally never. But with the service being slow - despite the quietness of the restaurant, and the undercooked chicken, we felt it was only right to mention it.
Very, VERY grateful to Francisco. You somewhat saved our evening - so thank you for that. We may be back again in the future in hopes for a better experience.
Wouldn't be put off by the place as it may just of been an off...
Read moreI went for my 40th birthday and booked a table for two and it was the first time visiting a Cote Brasserie. It was amazing and is now one of my favourite top places for food. I've heard really good things and they didn't disappoint.
The service was attentive and excellent. Friendly staff, clean restaurant and quiet with soft music playing in the background. I like secluded cosy corners and was seated at a table tucked away dimly lit which made me happy. I hadn't asked for it but was happy they had little nooks.
They greeted me with birthday wishes and gave my guest and I complimentary Prosecco which was lovely and made me feel special!
I forgot to take photos because the food looked and tasted amazing so I jumped right in! We ordered olives to share, the gluten free fish parmentier, beef dish (not gluten free for that one) and we both had the passionfruit and lime creme brulee topped with caramelised pineapple. I can recommend all of those. They were incredible!!! Portions were perfect sizes, aromatic flavours, quality ingredients and tender fish and meat so soft it melted in your mouth. Auf deutsch " Ein Geschmackserlebnis!"
The server was great and helped me choose my main when I couldn't decide. I ordered a pinot noir carafe which was delicious. The bill came to just unser £100 for two people which I thought was really reasonable for the excellent quality, 2 mains, 2 desserts, 1 starter and a carafe of wine and attentive service.
As a big bonus: I really liked that there weren't any screaming kids running around. There were some well behaved quiet children in the back of the restaurant but generally I got an adult friendly vibe and I really appreciate that. I also didn't hear loud and vulgar profanity from other guests which makes me think it is slightly more upmarket with nicer clientele which is what I was looking for. I can't wait to go back and try my next dish!
Thank you, Cote Brasserie Chichester for making my first visit...
Read moreAs fairly frequent visitors to Côte chains, this has become our easy go to for fairly consistent food quality and service. The setting is standard for the chain. On this occasion 27/9 my wife and I accompanied by one other visited the Côte on South Street Chichester for a pre theatre supper. The meal was booked for 5.pm to allow plenty of time. Upon arriving we were greeted by staff, (the manager) and shown to a table. He asked if anyone had any allergies. I confirmed that one of the party had serious food allergies. He said he would bring the Allergy Tablet to the table just to check ingredients. This never appeared. It then took over 15 minutes to be served by anyone. When someone came to take our order, they wanted my order first (I’m male). I’m a little old and directed the waiter to the two ladies on the table (who were a little surprised not to be served first). This may just be a training point with young staff but really the ladies should always be served first. In a French themed restaurant, I would certainly hope this was observed. When asked if we wanted any condiments, we confirmed we did but sadly they never arrived at the table. Just also wanted to note that two of the plates were cold so the vegetables on the plates were cold. We were also served 5 minutes after an adjacent table (that arrived 10 minutes after us). Finally it took over 15 minutes to bring the bill to the table and that was only after I had beckoned the waiter. A rare disappointment which is a shame a created a bit of a theme for the start of the evening. Hopefully this will be read and some staff training will be given. We are not put off Côte. Just a little disappointed with the...
