Gorety Portuguese Café — Restaurant in Coventry

A great cafe in a nice location, BUT, Coventry City Council is not helping this business or any others in the canal basin by charging for on-street parking. This could, and should be a really attractive tourist destination. Sadly, I won't be returning as the cost of parking makes a visit to this cafe or any other business in the canal basin prohibitive. We visited on a Sunday and fully expected on street parking to be free of charge, as it is on the majority of streets in Birmingham. Me and my partner have been coming here since we moved to Coventry a few years ago, I wouldn't even recommend to go here, I'd just say you're crazy if you don't go here! Home made, traditional and absolutely delicious Portuguese food. Maria, the owner and her partner are such unbelievably lovely people and will make you feel like a part of the family as soon as you walk in. It was my first time visiting Gorety. What a lovely suprise! The owner was so welcoming and talked me through a range of the products, describing each one and how it can be served. There was a great selection of items and fresh produce. The owner even gave me a product to try, which was so kind. The food was delicious.
