On a relatively quiet Thursday (12 April) we decided to try this local restaurant with visiting relatives. The whole experience was a disaster! We opted for the set menu, any question we had about the options couldn't be answered by the waitress but she didn't try to find out either. The owner then took our order. Our relatives clearly said they wanted the crispy duck pancakes for starter and we opted for the seafood sharing platter. When the food came out they had our relative's order wrong and brought out a Bamboo sharing platter for them(they had specifically said how much they looked forward to the crispy duck!), when we questioned this with the waitress all we got was her coming back with the order receipt where they had incorrectly taken the order...no offer of changing it. The food itself was pleasant enough, although they made no attempt to find out if all was well, not once coming over to see if we were happy. We were made to wait ages between the starter and main course, our drinks order (just fizzy water) had to be chased and by the time the mains finally came out we were more or less over our hunger. So we asked if we could get a 'doggy bag'. The food for this was taken away, we had to chase up the bill and after paying we asked for our 'doggy bag' it turns out they just chucked (or did they??) our barely touched food! They totally failed to deal with the situation...an absolute disgrace! If they can't look after their guests on a quiet day perish the though to what lows they'll stoop to on a busy day! Seriously avoid this place, we certain won't...
Read moreNice food, pleasantly decorated restaurant and helpful/friendly staff.
My first visit was for takeaway, but I fully intend to return at some point to dine in. On a negative note, they do not serve jasmine rice, which was a disappointment.
I requested a slight modification to one dish ordered, which they happily obliged. I found it marginally more expensive than Chinese eateries visited elsewhere, but compared with other eateries locally, was on par.
There are a few parking bays directly outside the restaurant. Alternatively, there is a small P&D car park on the opposite side of the square (the strand), tucked behind Rolle Road (approximately 4 minute stroll). Other street parking is usually occupied by local residents.
I think it is wheelchair friendly - level floor, however, there is a screen just inside the main entrance, which may/may not complicate maneuverability. I haven't actually attempted rolling in on...
Read moreWhat a complete contrast this restaurant is to the dreadful China Garden that we ate in earlier in the week. Much more welcoming and the host very nice and polite man as were the rest of the staff. The meal was excellent and the service great. all served hot and quickly. Really enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere in complete contrast to the China garden who's reviews suggest that it is better than it is in reality (the China Garden that is) Most certainly will use again when we visit...
