Beautiful blue sea, lots to see and do, we called by only because we visited the village of goathland ( aidensfield) I recommend visiting either place. It's not the best for wheelchair access their is lost of steps and hills, the fish and chips are nice but expensive, the local people are friendly and welcoming, overall a very nice visit and a chance to visit some British TV film location such as the royal and heartbeat, if you visit goathland the village where heartbeat was filmed, you find places such as scripts garage open and the post office along with the pub and fully operational Train station all within the village, and just up the...

Whitby Beach offers something for everyone. Blue flag waters for those who like a paddle, fascinating rock pools for those interested in the local marine life, spectacular cliffs steeped in geological history for the visiting explorers and clean sandy beaches for those who just let to relax in the sunshine and soak up the atmosphere. Of course you’ll also see the famous Whibty Abbey looking over the beach from the cliff tops above, a must see attraction when you're visiting.

Chalets are available to hire during the summer months, and a cliff lift offers a quick and convenient trip up and down the cliffs for when there is just too...

An extraordinary beach and shore platform on the east side of the harbour, it is completely covered at high tide but is over 100m wide at low tide and you can walk for 1km along the base of the cliff. BE CAREFUL - check the times of high tide and don't get cut off. Whitby was famous in Victorian times for its jet and its fossils and there is still lots to be found on this beach. There are interesting rock pools for kids to explore and sand for castles. It is unsafe to swim here though as strong rip currents can pull...

BE CAREFUL - check the times of high tide and don't get cut off. Whitby was famous in Victorian times for its jet and its fossils and there is still lots to be found on this beach. There are interesting rock pools for kids to explore and sand for castles. It is unsafe to swim here though as strong rip currents can pull you out to sea.

A lovely stretch of beach that constantly changes with the tides. A great place to build a sand castle and defend it from the sea as the tide comes in. Lovely views in every direction so there are plenty of amazing backdrops for family pictures. As with most beaches it can get a little breezy so a wind break or beach tent makes a visit more comfortable. There are free toilets and a cafe on the promenade as well. Access can be made down the many footpaths or you can even use the elevator from the cliff top.

Fab wander I started out along the cliff tops from town on my last day in the area. As you head towards Sandsend, there are multiple paths down the cliffs, which oddly enough feel a little wild. Maybe it is the wind and the wide open views. Dropping down to the Promenade, and heading back into town, there are the brightly coloured beach huts, adding a gorgeous colour contrast to the cliffside. All of this and more, are 15 minutes from town at most at the furthest distance.
