There is another place that hire boats for £8 per adult but there was a queue. When we saw this place & saw that they charge £10 per adult, we asked them why their price was higher? they said they’ll teach us how to paddle. They assured us that many people coming here are beginners. So we paid, and the staff member who was supposed to teach us, spoke to us for less than 20 seconds & pushed our boat into the water even though we told him we were not ready & still trying to figure out how to control the paddles! We spent 15 mins in water & then got out, we tried to let them know that the staff member did not teach us well, and their response was very passive and disappointing which ruined the...

Definitely a fun thing to do!

Prices have gone up considerably within a short amount of time - from £7 to £10 between my last two visits, but kinda to be expected with the ever rising cost of living.

It is worth it though if it's just for an experience. Done it a few times with family and makes some fun memories with remembering how to row and steer and avoiding other boats. Pretty views, too, especially in summer, of course - and duckies!!

Would recommend to people visiting Knaresborough to...

Me and my husband rented a boat for a hour. The price was £14, which is quite decent. It was our first experience such as this. The staff didn't provide us with any information. It would be useful to give customers some advice as there were quite few people struggling. The boat was quite old, it wasn't cleaned before we took over, the paddles didn't have like a wire or a circle around to help us, we weren't offered a vest. The place was really busy and people were just banging around each...

Lovely boats in a gorgeous spot in God’s own County. We were given little-to-no guidance on how to manoeuvre the boat and our oars kept slipping out of the catches... but then everyone else seemed to be doing fine, so maybe we were the problem! TIP: Get there early in the day. This morning we were on the water in a matter of seconds without having to wait, and then on return, we passed a giant queue (pictured) and counted our blessings!

Hire a boat if you’re here with your friends or family in spring/summer time! The flowers, the trees, the weather, the ducks, everything seems to be in sync. Was £10 per person per hour, felt a little too expensive though. The people were lovely helping us in and out of the boat. Just that we wish we had more time. We were there just a few mins before 5pm and they called us back before even 5:45-5:50.
