it's a nice place. Very popular, the kids love it and the parties I've taken get very excited about going there and even more excited when they are there! if you are under 10 this is the nearest thing to heaven, slides cages and tunnels kind of thing, and is a great way of getting a lot of exercise and burning off some energy. Masses of sugary things on sale to hype the wee darlings into a frenzy as well!
Staff are generally friendly and helpful.Toilets a bit old fashioned but generally clean and hygienic. The place is pretty safe, clean enough if not spankingly modern - not that that matters much ( A rather quirky building, but bright and cheerful, inside and out, surrounded by parks and the seaside promenade - I think it was once an old Victorian seaside music hall) and everyone seems to have a good time, with maybe the odd unavoidable bump or bruise. The attendents do patrol a bit and help out, but parents and carers are supposed to be chiefly responsible for their charges, I think
It's affordable for a family and there are lots of chill out zones for the grown ups. I wish the food for sale was of a higher quality and a bit healthier - all a bit '1960's' but affordable and filling. Wouldn't have minded some more comfy chairs as well for the adults.
You can make this a part of a memorable day beach trip. On a sunny day you can combine this with a trip to the outdoor free play area, at least as good as the Pirate Petes itself, but different and lots to do and explore. Finally the large sandy beach is one of the finest in Scotland with warm shallow safe bathing most of the time - the water is a bit peaty from the river sometimes but is clean...beware jellyfish!
Recommended for little kids! Ask them what they thought of it later. Might...
Read moreSoft play area Is fantastic for all ages , we use to go every year both of my sons have autism but was very disappointed in the boss! I explained to him that my oldest son has autism, he has no understanding of what it means by age appropriate for certain parts of play areas! I was with my son at all times! The man was very harsh towards me with no compassion whatsoever, even the parents felt sorry for me and couldn’t believe the way he treated me son, and yes i do know that there is signs there for a reason as my youngest son was aware of the signs! but because my oldest son who has complex needs and no understanding of signs what so ever , the boss should have some kind of compassion And understanding! I never had any bother before in pirate Pete’s before as I did always explain to staff members and they were very good! food was very expensive £6 for two slices of toast! Quite disappointed I don’t think...
Read moreYesterday we visited the café for a second time in a week, that's how much my family and I enjoyed the food. The bill came to £104, that was for 4 adult meals, including milkshakes and huge sundaes, plus one children's meal. (Not forgetting a couple of sausages and an ice cream cone for the dog, she's on holiday too). The staff were very friendly and helpful. My youngest is a type 1 diabetic, which means carb counting before his insulin. The cook came out to talk to me, asked how she could help and did what I asked of her, meaning my son could have what he wanted to eat with no fuss and that's a big thing for anyone, especially a child, with such a serious condition. It isn't cheap to eat anywhere these days, but I think Pete's Café is value for money, the food is sooo nice, even a vegetarian option, it's clean (toilets are spotless), and the staff are top notch. Hopefully we will visit again before...
