Tl;dr Although it exceeded my terribly low expectations, the food is still very average, and awfully expensive if you don't have a deal. Went to this place as we were too lazy to go anywhere else other than the ground floor of the Premier Inn we were staying in. Even on a weekday evening we had to wait 30 minutes for a table - so, if you have made the unfortunate mistake of coming to Beefeater (or you're a weary Premier Inn customer), you should book a table. I opted for a £25 deal including a starter, mains, and drink, as well as buffet breakfast the next day. The chicken goujons were pretty good, with texmex vibes from the cheese sauce and jalapenos. The "Surf and Turf" (an extra £3 with the deal) was certainly edible - but not at all as good as it looks in the picture. Considering this establishment identifies as a 'steakhouse', the steak was not all too good. It definitely tasted like a steak and was well cooked, but nothing to write home about. The "Surf and Turf" sauce was positively rotten, and probably expired ten years ago - I should expect some food poisoning over the coming week from the little that I tried. I think they missed the "lobster" part of the lobster mac n cheese which seemed like a tasteless blob of cheesy pasta and breadcrumbs. The prawns although not frozen, must have been dawdling in the fridge for a few days, but were still surprisingly flavoursome. A redeeming factor was the calamari, which, I shudder to say, Beefeater seemed to freshly source. This, along with the very nice chips was a pleasure eat. Overall I would say Beefeater is not terrible, and we were lucky enough to have a really kind waitress. My experience was also helped by great value with this deal. Otherwise for a full-paying customer, eating at Beefeater would be financially unsound.

We stayed at the Premier inn over Christmas so had Breakfast and booked for Christmas Dinner at a cost of £72 per person. This restaurant is dirty, cutlery had dried food on it every day we had breakfast which was twice, Christmas Dinner was disgusting, the veg was undercooked to the extent it was rock hard, the Beef had water pouring out of it, very much looked like it had been frozen and thrown on a griddle to defrost, it certainly had not just been cut from a fresh roast. Then to top it all my xmas pudding arrived on a dirty plate, it was dirty on both sides but you could see something red coloured all stuck to the bottom. The wait time for dinner was a total joke, starter was more or less straight away, then main was around 1 hours wait after starter, then sweet was again 1 hours wait. I sent more or less my whole main back telling them it was cold and undercooked, they offered to microwave it, NO THANKS, I sent the full sweet back as soon as it arrived showing them the dirty plate, they said they had no more would I like some thing else. This was a meal pre booked a month before why would I want some thing else. They refused refund as it was paid in advance and said as a good will gesture would knock the drinks off, which was one pint and one Orange Juice. We dine out every Christmas day and have done for the last 10 years, this was the worst experience we have ever had. I had packet roast potatoes for my Christmas Dinner.

Ok place, didnt get a seat in the restaurant on the Thursday we arrived so we went to the bar. Chap with no name badge very moody on shift, took our order and did our drinks. Food was ok, my pasta dish was very small, but just right as I wasn't that hungry, could see it being an issue for some. Loaded nachos were v tasty, kids face maker sundae was cool and rocky road sundae was great. Good for sport too as have nice big TVs. Service for breakfast was a little dissapointing. At 10am I was told there were no seats available... there were several. I only got in because the Premier Inn had told me not to book for breakfast as I was a whitbread card holder and couldn't get discount on reception. It's hard to explain what was going on with the buffet breakfast.. there were bacon sausage and other foods left on trays in the main restaurant's kitchen window. They were then taken over to the buffet serving point when needed, but it just seemed to take too long between being cooked and put out for consumption... I could really only see 3 staff working and this seemed like too little.

We stayed at the premier inn and ate and drank at the beefeater when we first checked in parking was awful im in a wheelchair and need a disabled space there was absolutely nothing so had to pay £9.00 at the council car park behind the premier inn car park but the day after I was able to move my car into there car park which was just £3.50 a day so just left my car there. When we ate in the resteraunt we orded drinks and are food and it was a good 20 minutes and our drinks hadn't arrived but our starter had so we had to ask for our drinks and then they was warm and flat so they had to go back and they was replaced we then got our meals, i am fusy eater and what I eat is basic and that was lovely no problems there my husband orded the mixed grill and paid extra for a larger steak but the steak was awful he didn't eat any of it, it was very chewy the gentleman that helped us he was from the front of house was very helpful and took money off for the mess up. We then went in for a drink twice and it was on two separate days they had no syrup to make diet coke how can I company as big as premier inn and beefeater not be able to get syrup unbelievable. Regarding the room the air conditioning was awful and the noise at night coming from the staff members doors was disgusting they didn't have it on a soft close like the other doors which we checked the other doors we then went and told reception and then the noise stopped .The shower seat was not safe there was cracked tiles below the seat which I am not sure if that was what made it wobbly I did not feel safe at all on it. The lift was broken and I believe it had been broken for a week at least, now I know this didn't effect me but I met a few people who it did one lady had a broken leg and a pram. now I know they can't help it if the lift is broken but at least tell people before they come. Apart from that we had a lovely time the beds was comfy but the noise was awful I feel like they are riding on the fact that it's a prime location and not doing anything to up keep the place the disabled toilet for the bar and restaurant is an absolute disgrace I don't know when it was last cleaned. The area is Amazing, but this hotel does not reflect the location very...

Maybe due to the COVID-19, I had unhappy experience this time in this branch. I am a big fan of Beefeater chin, and I have visited many branches in the UK but this time in my lovely town, Torquay, unexpected things happen clearly. First of all, I came to this branch being invited by my friends, we were 3, for a dinner as a celebration of the ease of the lockdown due to the COVID-19.

Car park: Was full, and we hardly found a space to shove our car in because one of the other car parked wrongly.❌

Reception: Was good, and the guy who guide us to our table told us we needed either to wait 15 minutes to stay at the restaurant or he could take us to the bar where they serve food as well✅

Taking order: We went to the bar to order, and the lady asked us what table number, we replied we did know because there is no number on it. However, I pointed out the table and it was clear where we setting, but she said: each table must have number; and once we went back to the table the number plate was removed which was in anyway not my fault. ❌

Time of preparation and serving: I could not count how much we waited for the food to be served. It was very long time until we thought some tables who came after us have been served before us. ❌

Staff: I don’t know what have been done to the staff because I remember no one, except the girl who served the food, draw a smile in their faces. The quality and taste of food: We ordered rib eye and filet to be well done, when it came they were almost burnt. We did not except a great chin like beefeater to do low quality of food. One of my friends is a food critic and he was not pleasant with the taste and the portion. He said: what in earth they forgot to bring the stake sauce. ❌

Service: Usually, all restaurants waiters come after they serve the food to the each table and double check if everything is ok. We didn’t have the experience. And once we order refill chips it took very long until we could not stand. ❌

My friend, who invited us, was so ashamed and felt so awkward about the situation. He pull himself up and went to manger to explain the situation. The manger was considering and he kindly gave us a full refund of the...

Just been to this place in Torquay. My elderly my mother in law wanted to pay for dinner and bring all the children out.

The place was so hot. No aircon. We were all sweating. It’s gross.

Plates brought out for kids all boiling hot. The server expected us move them over to the kids (& burn our hands) Unbelievable.

No spoons offered for the kids peas. No new cutlery brought out after the starters. Had to keep reminding people and requesting things non stop. Exhausting. The service was slow.

At the end my 3 year old was teary and we got up to leave. My mother in law had stood and waited at the til for ages so she could pay. She was given a receipt. She thought she had paid as the waitress took the cash (tip) from her and my mother in law thought she had tapped the card machine with her phone.

She’s put all her bank cards onto her mobile now and you just tap the machine to pay. She thought she had paid.

As we try and exit a scary short man with neck tattoos starts shouting in our faces ‘It’s not been paid! You can’t leave.’ As though he thinks he’s in the SAS and not a person working at Beefeater 👀

My mother in law shows him her receipt. He is the rudest little man ever ‘This isn’t paid!’

My mother in law is so calm and goes back to the til with him.

I wait and ask for his name and whether he is the manager. Apparently he is the manager and his name is Matt.

I cannot believe someone like that is allowed to be a manager! No customer care skills. No manners. No people or communication skills.

Imagine screaming in an OAP’s face? Imagine doing that! Now, imagine doing it at work. Terrible.

Steer clear of that place. Stay well away.

We were so excited to have found a nice place to eat as we have moved here from the south east.

That manager (Matt) is a disgrace. Shame on you Matt. Shouting at an OAP who made a mistake and you treated her like a thief.

Ps: Your waitress shouldn’t accept a tip and not allow an old age pensioner to PAY (like she was trying to do!) She stood at that til for ages. That’s confusing to take the tip and give a receipt. Why not make it clear that it had not been paid.

You need a customer care course and you need it...
