One of if not the best student accommodations in Leeds! I stayed here this year and found the place fantastic, the building is great with some impressive facilities including the arcade, gym, roof terrace and study spaces. The room and the kitchen were lovely and well designed. The kitchen comes with everything you need apart from a kettle and a toaster, however one thing that annoyed me was the lack of fridge space. I was in a 4 person flat with one fridge meaning you only have one shelf per person which really isn’t enough space so I never did big shops due to this, I usually just bought a few things I needed.
The staff are all very friendly including the cleaners, John always did an amazing job of keeping the whole building spotless whilst also having a chat to everyone and being very welcoming, helping the place feel like a home.
The building itself looks spectacular from the outside and is in a very good central location with it being near the Merrion centre for supermarket needs and only a 5-10 minute walk to Leeds Beckett and 15-20 minute walk to Leeds University.
The only disadvantages are that the lifts often break, meaning you will be waiting a long time for a lift sometimes, however I was told next year this should be sorted. Other than that it is quite expensive compared to other accommodations but I would say it’s worth it as there’s also events that Altus House put together to help you meet new people in the building. I’ve had no issues with the WiFi which seems to be a common issue from what I’ve read, I believe they must’ve sorted this out.
I would definitely recommend staying in this accommodation if you’re looking for somewhere premium to stay. It is full of all age ranges, not just first years and many international students, but also some UK students too. As I found it so good I’ll be back staying...
Read moreI’ve listed some key points so perspective tenants can make an informed decision based on my experience living here-
Cons: A bad sewage smell emanates from the shower, it gets especially bad later in the day. The Wi-Fi connection is poor and affects the use of washing facilities. Beds are quite hard Room checks were done without proper notice, and in some instances, the member of staff conducting the check entered the room when the occupant was sleeping which caused discomfort and distrust among occupants. When these issues were raised, the team leader was dismissive, unhelpful kept trying to justify their actions. Packages delivered to reception may not be promptly scanned in or picked up, causing inconvenience to residents. Additionally, there has been instance where my package has been left unattended and wasn’t scanned for 3 hours, despite there being staff on reception, this came after the complaint was placed. There are only 3 lifts for 36 floors, which are slow and often break down causing people to get stuck in the lift. The lifts also also get dirty and littered over weekends. If you are allocated a room facing the main road it can sometimes get really loud. Faulty laundry app.
Pros: Nice layout and colour pallet. A lot of facilities to use. Maintenance staff are prompt in addressing maintenance requests. Some members of the staff are friendly and approachable.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend iQ Altus House considering the price and based on my experiences here as a...
Read moreThis accommodation is, in my opinion, the best in Leeds, it is absolutely stunning and has many amenities to appeal to everyone such as an arcade and cute study areas. The flats have a good layout which is very cosy once decorated and plenty of storage space and the building is located in the city centre so you have everything you need on your doorstep. There are events on often which is a great opportunity for meeting other residents. This is my third year living here and I have not had a single issue, every single member of staff is super friendly which is great if you’re as chatty as I am! I couldn’t be happier with the experience I have had living here and will be sad when the time comes to leave, I would recommend this accommodation to...
