"Where you stand depends on where you sit." - Nelson Mandela Located on the busy Calverley street beside Millennium Square. It's right in the heart of city centre. I first discovered this place when I was on my way back from a Dental surgery after crossing Leeds Infirmary. While others may think its in a corner that's quite busy, I found it to be in the right place. When I just needed to sit and relax a bit draining from the pain of the surgery. Was a perfect spot with a fountain and beautiful flowers. It was my perfect place of rest! Make sure you have a sit before you walk away from the spot 😉

I had a visit to the Mandela Garden with high enthusiasm to see a wonderful place named to honour a great worrier for peace & freedom. unfortunately I was disappointed, since the garden is too small & only a sign crafted with part of Mandela's speeches. I thought there will be pictures & some details about Mandela historical struggle in order to have an idea why this garden is dedicated to this person. I think my hopes were a bit high. NK

Beautiful little area with amazing plants and flowers. Nice information boards up explaining the significance and history of the area and Mandela's visit to Leeds. Sculpture of the hands and arms is very thought provoking too. Would have given 5 stars only the fountains are out of order and they have no water in their pools, plus they look like they haven't worked in years.
