This was our first trip to Leeds and we fancied some nice Greek Restaurant dishes. Tavernaki Bistro came up when searched for in the city centre and decided to give it a try as the images of the food seemed promising. The server was very attentive and friendly, and the restaurant seemed cosy. We all got the souvlaki dishes- 2 chicken and 1 pork-halloumi mix. For the chicken souvlaki you get 2 good portioned and tasty chicken skewers, which were really enjoyed. In the meal you also receive two pitta breads which do not appear fresh and were not so tasty. The chips were thick and tasty, although could be homemade considering the price of the meal which is at £16.... You receive a complimentary small dip of tzatziki sauce, which was ok but certainly not enough for all your chips and meat and they charge you extra at £1,50 if you want more!. The salad portion was tiny and a bit lame considering this is meant to be a greek meal.
The pork-halloumi mix souvlaki was a bit of a joke.... You get a whole skewer of lovely tender pork and then for the halloumi you get the 3 tiniest, thinnest pieces ever.... How is this a good swap for 1 skewer of pork pieces?? For £16 that is an absolute joke.
We asked for our bill and paid. Upon checking the receipt after, we saw that a 10% service charge was added on our order! On the bottom of the receipt it stated that this service charge is optional and will only be added if stated by the customer of course. How cheeky are you to add this extra service charge on top of our order?? if we wanted to give it as it is optional, then it is completely our decision to say that we wish to add it on!. Almost £10 gone just like that ! The food itself is well overpriced for the quality that you receive!
Never coming back again. I recommended everyone to find a better Greek restaurant because...
Read moreVery disappointed We met a family member who was visiting leeds and wanted an authentic Greek meal The meal was very disappointing The tzasiki was yogurt with a bit of something sprinkled onto it, no cucumber, no mint,no flavour this was served with burnt pitta bread The souvlaki was dry and was served with frozen chips with some seasoning on The hummus was a mixture of red pepper and hummus this wasn’t stated on the menu, it was left uneaten by a guest who doesn’t like peppers, so basically it cost £8 for a burnt pitta bread. Deserts were very pricey they had only 4 items to choose from and one of those was unavailable. The options for any dietary requirements were limited and non existent for the deserts And no children’s menu either. The staff weren’t friendly at all and we felt rushed out as they started clearing everything off the table and not even asked if we were finished with the drinks etc. I would not recommend...
