Spent Saturday and Sunday at the Beacon Park Tribute Festival in Lichfield.
Positives:- The event was well organised, lots of people there but we weren't crowded in despite being near the front of the stage on both days. Apart from a brief rain shower Sunday evening the weather was just the right temperature, perfect for a Festival.
Negatives:- It's been mentioned in previous years via various social media platforms that the food is of a poor and unhealthy selection. This year was no different and some food stalls had limited stock or ran out of food early. Comments were made that the food and drink prices are too high, a statement I agree with entirely. Some people said that beer, wine and Prosecco had run out too.
To the Festival Organisers - moving forward for next and subsequent years why can't people take their own picnic if they want to like they do at Moseley Folk Festival? There are more food stalls at that particular Festival than at Beacon Park but you can also take in your own (except alcohol) food in so long as it isn't in 'single use' plastic. It works and what could be nicer than a homemade picnic at a Festival. It was one hell of a trek back to our car midway through Saturday to eat our healthy but enjoyable nutritious food and we missed a whole set of music. Yesterday we just went hungry and then caved in at 8.15pm and left early to eat in our car thereby missing the Headliner Act Noasis. Why spoil a perfect event by making it difficult for people to eat what they want?
Ending on a positive note the Tribute Acts themselves were varied and appealed to a wide range of people.
Personally I thought the Tribute Queen band were great and I also enjoyed the Luther tribute on Saturday.
Sunday- Blondied did a really good set, Take That raised the roof, what energy and my absolute favourite Simply Collins, a fabulous hour where I danced and sang my heart out.
The whole weekend vibe was happy and relaxed, a real family event with things to do for children too and a funfair. You could see people really enjoyed it.
I've absolutely no objection to bags being checked for alcohol or as a security measure but c'mon what is the harm in bringing in a chicken salad🙄 and a yogurt.
Make it perfect in future by letting everyone bring their own food in if they want...

The variety of food available catered to all tastes, ensuring that no one went hungry amidst the fun. Read moreNice big open space to run around. Sometimes gets very busy in the children's play area and unfortunately not enough swings or slides etc. Nice cafe by the play area although quite expensive and you end up queuing for ages. There's a small golf course, crazy golf and peddle boats you can pay to use in the summer. Morrisons is right next to the golf course and you can park there for a limited time (2 or 3 hrs) instead of paying for the car park. Its right next to town and the registry office so you usually have a few weddings photos being taken by the fountain. Beacon park looks lovely in the summer, when all the flowers etc have grown and there's always squirrels around and unfortunately rats! They have just refurbished the tennis courts at which they usually have lessons that children can join in with over the summer. There are also areas for football and cricket to be played by beacon Village which...
