Lakeside Bistro — Restaurant in Lichfield

Pleasant setting towards the edge of Beacon Park. Adequate parking nearby. Popular so pick your moment to go although many customers were taking drinks away. Dog friendly with there being a separate menu listing treats. Staff pleasant. Hots drinks are what you would expect / want. Breakfast eaten here: toasted malted bloomer bread, with plenty of butter, was well received. My bacon & sausage sandwich was at best okay; bread was fine but the fillings were overdone, in fact as I was the first person of the day to eat any cooked meat items I am sure I was eating yesterday's warmed up offerings. Now, I prefer bacon & sausage well done as opposed to not hence I ate it without complaint (just a passing grumble to the missus) - thus my marking of the food is an average of 3, 4/5 for the toast & 2/5 for the sandwich. First off I was standing in the queue for a well needed coffee and a cake, upon my horror I while trying to choose I noticed flies all over them when I reached the till I mentioned this to one of the workers who said and I quote " there's only 1) 1 or more is absolutely disgusting.i no longer wanted cakes today or any time soon!! The manager popped her head round and proceeded to inform me the flu zapper is on in the kitchen!! I then grabbed a bottle of pepsi and proceeded to a table to wait for the coffee, before I could sit down I had to clean the chair and table god only knows what was on it!! Still sat 20 minutes to get the coffee while watching people after me getting there coffee's first brings the question did they make me wait because I told them about...

It was our first time visiting Beacon Park and such a lovely find, we'll bring our Grandkids back here. The only problem was we felt like we were being rushed. We got there at 2.50pm and was told there was no food but cakes, couldn't even warm a sausage roll up. Very off putting when you have staff cleaning floors around you, chairs on tables inside and people being turned away. It was a beautiful day, lots of people around and we saw at least 8-10 people being put off, when businesses are struggling it's a bit bad....
