The same corporate chains as every other ghastly shopping centre.
That was three years ago, now most have pulled out, leaving boarded-up shops, very little footfall.
St Mark's retail is south of the city centre, over the level crossing, then cross a very busy road.
The lower end of the High Street between the level crossing and St Mark's was pedestrianised a couple of years ago, sleazy and run down, charity shops, pawn shops, gambling joints, greasy spoon cafes, closed shops and more due to close.
Pedestrianisation of this section of the High Street does not stop Deliveroo serfs riding through, the wrong way down a one way street. Lack of enforcement.
St Mark's retail desolation, once upon a time St Mark's Railway Station. Many boarded-up shops, corporate chain coffee shops serving disgusting coffee, little footfall.
Two new retailers have moved in, Boyz and Fresh Local & Wild.
Boyz deserted. The only difference from when Boyz was off Sincil Street, lacks trip hazard of buckets collecting water from the leaking roof.
Fresh Local & Wild an interesting concept, a coffee shop, unmanned stalls for local businesses, bread, fresh fruit and vegetables, zero waste and art, but in the wrong location. A few lost souls wander in, wander around out of curiosity, wander back out. A few stay for coffee.
The coffee from Seven Districts, skilled baristas, makes worth a visit if in the locality or passing through.
Fresh Local & Wild the saving grace of St Mark's. Were it not for the coffee shop serving excellent coffee, possibility of topping up with zero waste groceries, picking up a loaf of bread and fresh fruit and vegetables there would be no reason to visit St Mark's.
Now three coffee shops worth visiting in Lincoln:
Madame Waffle Coffee Aroma Fresh Local & Wild
Avoid the chains and greasy spoon cafes.
Three years ago, before the retail collapse of St Mark's, I gave two-stars, the same rubbish corporate chains find in every ghastly shopping centre. Now little left, little footfall, but Fresh Local & Wild gains it...
Read moreThe parking has been made really difficult, my son was asleep and my partner needed to pop into Superdrug for afew bits, not a problem or so I thought as we used to do this regularly. I am a blue badge holder and often park up and pay then sit in the car whilst my family or partner go about their or our business. I parked up and as usual I went to pay using the pay by phone app, but since a recent app update it no longer wanted to show me nearest or past used car parks, despite all permissions being correct on my device. When searching on the in app map apparently St Marks Gardens wasn't a pay by phone location, my choices then became either leave my sleeping son alone in the car to try and find the location number (which I didn't chose to do, for obvious reasons) or leave the space, drive around the block and look at all the signage to get the location ID. After leaving the space I had parked in and driving around the whole block to find the location ID I finally found it, on the payment machine in tiny writing right at the bottom of the signage next to the machine, every other sign was simply a warning to adhere to the rules. A very unhanded move by Excel Parking in my opinion to try and catch people out with ANPR and charge you for overstaying the specified time limit without paying. We will go to the city centre and use in my opinion, more straight forward...
Read moreSt Mark's Shopping centre is fantastic from the parking, which we found fairly expensive (and the positive thing with regards to the carpark was we could pay by chip n pin or mobile app, which carries a service fee)
There is an upper and lower car park. They are both same price. However the lower one fills up rather quick.
Its situated in middle of Lincoln. With a harvester and other restaurants near by. As well as Puregym, Argos, entertainers and plenty of other shops. Also includes an Amazon Locker
Was £8.50 for 5 hours parking.
I do agree with people, parking is contributing to people shopping at our of town places.
Literally just round the corner is a retail park, that was absolutely full of cars, at...
