Although the meat is of unquestionable quality, sadly the customer service is quite awful. This is my second visit to Bevanās after a not great but not quite as bad experience in the summer when my polite enquiries about getting a whole lamb shoulder were met with exasperation. Today I asked for some chuck steak to be freshly minced for me, but was told that I needed to give 24 hours notice for this and a minimum weight if 1.6kg. This is disappointing for a local butcher as this is the kind of thing that one uses them for which is not available at supermarkets - however it is a policy and thatās fair enough. What is not ok is the way the older lady behind the counter gave me the above information and treated my request so incredulously, as if Iād just asked her to go and freshly slaughter a cow for me. When I then further enquired about the ready made burgers (as this is what I wanted the mince for, to make my own), in terms of what was in them (meaning fat content/seasoning) she confirmed very clearly sarcastically āer, mince?!ā when asked by the boy behind the counter who had no answers to any of my questions. I bought them anyway and Iām sure theyāll be beautiful but thatās not the point. I wonāt be coming back to Bevanās, so...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI would like to commend you on the fine service you provide the community for procuring quality meats and the amazing staff that you employ to assist in any way needed. . I have had several opportunities to work with staff Rui. I find this staff member highly knowledgeable both about your meat, the quality of your products and how to cook it to perfection. Both my wife and I have interacted with him on numerous occasions and have been highly pleased by the recommendations he has provided. We have utilized butchers in the past, but have never encountered a staff member with such wealth of knowledge to promote perfect preparation both with groups and family meals. It is nice to see an organization that understands that a seasoned staff can make an immense impact on the success of our cooking experience, and the talent of this young man is...

I went in to Bevan's at 5:53 a couple of Fridays ago, having checked that they claim to be open until 6:00. As soon as I crossed the threshold, I was greeted with "you've got seven minutes" - not so much as a 'good afternoon'.
I appreciate that shops may wish to close on time after a long day, but I would have thought that 7 minutes to buy some meat was so much more than enough that it didn't even warrant a mention. Even if it needed pointing out, there are ways of doing things with a little courtesy - a concept that is clearly completely alien to the staff at Bevan's as they wallow in their self-satisfaction.
I chose not to keep them from their weekend a moment longer, & will...
