Unfortunately I will not be booking anymore events at Cadogan Hall again in the future, which is an absolute shame as the venue is beautiful and well designed.
Yesterday (19.09.2025) was the first time I booked an event here and it will be my last. I am an avid book collector and book lover, having seen an event with Ian McEwan with a book signing arranged post event I jumped in to secure my place. There was not an option to unselect a book as the book was automatically included in the price, which I was not too focused on as I would be able to get it signed at the end. The event clearly stated there would be a book signing (I have attached an image and the website still confirms there was a book signing), however once the talk finished, there was no mention of a signing. I spoke to two ushers post event confirmed there will be no book signing. There were a lot of people querying this at the main foyer table, one couple travelled 3 hours for the event to get the book signed and were also told at the box office on the day of the event that the book signing was happening. However this did not happen at all.
People specifically book events if they know there is an in person book signing as that is what makes it more personal, and obviously are happy the pay the extra. I understand Ian McEwan may have been tired. However the venue should have emailed the customers to let them know the change of plan prior event and the option of cancelling.
If this was the case I would not have booked the event at all. I am now +£50 out of pocket with an unsigned book. I may as well have just gone to Waterstones to buy the signed book (Which I deliberately did not buy as I had booked this event, and now all the London stores have run out of signed copies).
Extremely unhappy, if someone can get back to me for a refund or partial refund I would greatly appreciate the customer service to take responsibility for the mismanagement of this...
Read moreI saw a couple of swells, that is Joe Stilgoe and Lisa Pulman. Singing songs from 40s and 50s American musicals. Cadogan is a lovely venue. I think you could sit anywhere and have a decent view of the stage. Stalls are nicely raked so good views there. The gallery is on 3 sides and seating is on benches so not individual seats. The benches are marked but people might not like it if the venue is fully booked. We were fine as gallery not jam packed. Seating was very comfortable though with plenty of leg room. The doors opened at 6pm and you could enter auditorium 7pm. Show started at 7.30pm. so plenty of time to enjoy a drink or ice ream in the cafe bar in ground floor. It's very big but seating is limited. Ladies wAs located in basement at side of cloakroom. There was also a ladies as you walked up to the gallery. Note they do have a lift and a Wheelchair lift. Also please note there is a bottle neck on the stairs when you leave. They seemed to funnel everyone out that way! Also we were going to wait a few minutes after so the crowds on stairs could disperse. But one of the ushers asked us to leave. She asked another couple to also go and they said they were waiting for the queue to die down to which she replied, there is no queue! We heard this conversation as we were leaving and just as we reached the non existent queue! She was actually quite rude. Apart from her, all other staff were lovely and very helpful. One of them even told me about the history of the venue when I asked. So please don't let one staff member having a bad day put you off. We weren't and will be coming back this Christmas. Transport links are good Sloane sq tube is 5 mins away. Knightsbridge about 15 mins and as your are in central London there are lots of buses. Sloane Square has an abundance of cafes, restaurants and bars if you want to eat or catch a drink before or after your visit to...
Read moreWent to see a long awaited show!
Lovely cosy venue, with a robust restored feel to the main reception room & bar. Venue layout easy to follow with good access to toilets between stair levels. Well kept overall, including nice clean toilets.
We sat at stalls (row J) and the seat distancing and knee/leg room was good, seats averagely compfy. Staggered views not that great for watching lots of center stage stuff tbh, I had to keep leaning to see around the head of person in front. Sound and lighting; the whole ambience was otherwise excellent and perfectly chill.
air temp control good middle ground - I could relax and take off my coat and gloves.
Staff very friendly and professional, taking the time to help you efficiently despite the show starting in minutes!
Prices for drinks are typical London prices (eg some £6-8 glass of wine and something like £5 per can on beer). Of course they offer you beer in those flimsy festival plastic cups, but that's nothing new really. Range of bar drinks are fair with a bit of everything, queuing system often loose but it doesn't take too long to be served with several tills open at once.
I also happened to leave my gloves behind; and they replied (email) within 12hrs of my email enquiry - informing me that they had them and to pop in to collect between performance hours. So very prompt.
Had a lovely time and experience! Keen to go...
