Tucked into the genteel folds of Belgravia, The Antelope is a rare beast: a traditional pub that hasn’t lost its soul to polish. With roots tracing back to the 17th century, it offers a comforting blend of heritage, hearty fare, and a crowd that ranges from suited locals to wandering foodies.
Atmosphere Expect wood-panelled walls, vintage mirrors, and the kind of lighting that flatters both your pint and your mood. It’s lively without being loud, and the layout encourages both quiet corners and communal cheer. On weekday evenings, it hums with post-work chatter; on weekends, it leans into relaxed lunches and long conversations.
Menu Highlights The kitchen leans gastropub, with a few surprises tucked between the classics:
Black Bomber cheese croquettes with pickled walnut mayo – rich, punchy, and moreish
Crispy duck salad with soy honey dressing – a sweet-savory standout
Beef cottage pie with aged Italian cheese – comfort food with a flourish
Mussels in cider & leek cream – generous, aromatic, and perfect with fries
Pan-roasted gnocchi with caponata veg – a solid vegetarian option, though not the star of the show
The portions are generous, the plating unfussy, and the flavours honest. It’s not reinventing the wheel—but it’s rolling it...
Read moreI have always loved this pub and rented the Snug a few years ago which was nice. But recently I rented the Eaton Room and, although the room itself is lovely, unfortunately we were not treated well by the staff and manager there. For example, the room advertises a 'private bar' on its website but there was only a table at which the barman just never seemed to be; there weren't enough glasses; and there was just no clarity on where/how to get drinks. In addition, I have not been informed whether my deposit was taken off the bill or not, despite asking 3 times since.
When we tried to find out where bar members were, we found the service to be surly and abrupt. And when my mother and friends were setting up the room they were spoken to rudely by staff, which was really upsetting on a night when we were supposed to be celebrating.
I prefer to liaise with management directly rather than write reviews, so we fed back on the night itself, then to management the next day, and also to Fullers, all with no response. As they don't seem to want to improve, sadly I have no option but to share this on Google to prevent this happening to other people. Please do go to this lovely pub for a drink, but I would not recommend renting the...
Read moreI really, really wanted to give The Antelope 5 stars - it's a proper pub just 5 mins' walk from Sloane Square - beautiful decor, friendly service and excellent drinks offering. But on a recent group lunch visit I was really surprised by my friend's lunch. Most of us had ordered roasts which were average Chelsea prices (lower end of the scale) and great value for money with excellent portion sizes, very tasty. However one friend ordered ham, egg and chips for a relatively high price (I think around £13) and it was really disappointing. He had very few chips, an underdone egg and some supermarket-style ham - not at all aligned with the rest of the homecooked vibe. The plate really did look rather sad, especially compared to the piled-high roast dishes. When my friend asked for some more chips (since his portion was about a quarter of the size of a fish and chips portion), he was charged for them! I don't think the staff noticed how poor the plate looked... I could not fault my own meal but the disappointing ham, egg and chips has unfortunately lost The Antelope that fifth star from me. Please have a look at this dish! It's definitely not up to par with the usual food offerings from you or Fuller's. Otherwise, a really...
