We had our wedding at the Depot at the end of August 2021 and the events team and management went out of their way to help make it a super special day. The events manager Georgie was extremely responsive to the ever evolving plan for the day and she did a great job of making suggestions around the best way to organise everything. Gary the general manager was also super on the day and went out of his way to try and address some sound equipment issues we faced. The food was superb overall and our guests didn't stop commenting on what a lovely venue it was for a wedding. We had plenty of space for a whole raft of entertainment and the massive drop down screen and projector, was perfect for screening videos from people who couldn't attend on the day. We did have a the odd misunderstanding on communications and in the evening reception some planned food was not delivered, but we Depot were great and we reconciled everything within a week of the event! All our guests said they'd had an amazing time and thought it was one of the most fun weddings they'd ever been to and we thought so too, although we may be a tad biased! ;p

I'm a wedding photographer based in Liverpool, but I cover weddings across the UK and The Depot in London is definitely one of my favourites for a wedding reception. The staff we're all incredibly friendly and easy to work with. www.darronwatson.co.uk The inviting and relaxed atmosphere, coupled with an abundance of natural light streaming through the large windows, makes it a dream for any photographer. One of the standout features of this venue is undoubtedly the outdoor courtyard, which provides the perfect spot for guests to enjoy welcome drinks and canapés, especially during the warmer months. The courtyard also serves as a greatl backdrop for some relaxed couple's portraits, and the elevated view from the top offers a great opportunity for a big group shot if that's your thing. Even when the weather is not ideal, the outdoor courtyard is still a great spot to relax with a drink and enjoy the surroundings.

Quite disappointed with my visit this time round. Drinks were okay, but food was mediocre only. I wonder if they have changed their chef/kitchen staff. The buttermilk chicken was charred black the first time round and then too salty the second time round, and finally, the staff refunded us for it instead. Otherwise, service was okay - but they seemed a little short of staff and as such, there were long waits for ordering food and drinks. Staff members were polite and nice, but were not very available. I had to leave the till and come back a couple of times to get my orders in. I used to love this place and rave about the food, don't feel the same anymore. I really hope it's a one-off bad day - and it'll be better next time round! I'd still come for drinks and a quick bite.. I really like the setting and atmosphere of the restaurant in general and there is always nice music playing in the background.

Wedding March 2024 – 100 guests. I was thinking for a while about whether I should write a review, but I felt it was important to share our wedding experience.

Location The pub itself is very characteristic, and it was exactly what we wanted.

The worst highlight - Robbery After the ceremony, an unknown person entered the pub (pretending to be the staff) and stole two phones and one wallet. Bear in mind that you pay for security. The pub checked CCTV and confirmed the incident took place, but nothing else was offered to us, nor was there at least a written apology.

Staff There is a coordinator to help you with the wedding planning (and she was very sweet), but if you have no experience in organising large events, hire a wedding planner, as the pub will not provide you with much support.

Manager I only talked to her once during the wedding organisation, and she was super rude and unhelpful. Unfortunately, she was in charge on our wedding day. As per my event host and best friend, the manager arrived at the pub around 1:20/ 1:30 p.m.- the event was due to start at 2 pm. The room wasn’t set up properly - Positions were wrong, tables were not set up, coat rail had no space and seating for the ceremony didn’t make sense. Understandably, the florist was also panicking and running around. Thankfully, I have a whole group of friends with hospitality backgrounds, and they literally took everything into their own hands and changed/ fixed everything. But I would never want my guests to run around at my event and fix mistakes instead of having fun.

Food The pub food was not bad; we loved the main course and dessert. However, the starter was a disaster, as it was served on a massive piece of bread that was impossible to eat. They offer a food tasting a few months before the wedding, but they only offer the dishes they think are popular. So, we never actually tried our food, and I regret it now. Our late snack was served almost 1h later than planned. Therefore, we had a lot of food waste. Another highlight: I spent weeks doing lists with allergies, and there were still a few mistakes.

Overall, it’s not a bad place. But for us, with all the comments above, it is not a place we...

The venue itself is lovely, but the drinks are so bad and the food actually inedible. Don’t bother coming here.

Let’s start with the booking process. I’d booked a table for 2 and on the special requests asked about the board games (mentioned on their website). On arrival, I was told to grab whatever table I could. And then when I asked about board games, they said they had none. So two questions - why accept online bookings? and why advertise something you don’t have?

Next the drinks. I went to the bar to order a Dark Forest and a FTC. The bartender looked at me as though I’d made these up, and I had to pull up the menu to show the drinks I meant. They then said the menu online is different to in person, at which point I clarified that this was in fact the in person menu placed on all the tables. They continued to scramble to find all the ingredients before producing two of the most disgusting mocktails. Needless to say, we took one sip and left the rest.

Next the food. I ordered beef yakitori, loaded fries and broccolini for the table. All took 30+ mins to arrive. The beef was inedible - coated in oil and super fatty bits of meat with no seasoning. The loaded fries has congealed clumps of blue cheese which made the fries inedible (we actually felt sick after trying). Lastly, the broccolini - where do I begin. When we were brought this, I thought we’d been given the wrong dish. It was the most horrific watery clump of dark green/black mush and, when trying, all we could taste was mustard?

I didn’t have particularly high levels of expectation for pub grub, but this was the worst food my companion and I have tasted through 2023.

We left hungry, disappointed, out of pocket, and eager to...

I had my wedding at The Depot a few weeks ago, and was left with mixed feelings. While I don't necessarily regret having my wedding there, the service on the day was sloppy and disappointing, with many avoidable issues happening on the day. To name a few: I had a family member hand make bunting for my wedding which was not put up, and was awkward when I thanked this family member during my speech, as the bunting I was referring to was no where to be seen. The DJ and photobooth suppliers arrived during the dinner service with the plan being that they would call the venue and someone would meet them outside to tell them where to go. However, they were left outside with no one answering the phones, so I had to coordinate this myself during the dinner service, with guests chastising me for being on my phone. Additionally, the music we requested to be played during the dinner was put on an hour later than intended, after I begged them on 3 occasions to please change the music. We had bought a cheese tower and this was put out as individual layers rather than the tower it was intended to be. In the early planning stages I was assured that I would not need to hire my own coordinator as they would take care of everything. I deeply regret not organising my own coordinator for the day and trusting them to follow our plan for the day. Positives of the day were - food was excellent (despite late service), the general layout and atmosphere of the venue was great. Despite many issues, staff were nice. If you do have your wedding here, make sure you have your own coordinator on the day to oversee set up and order of the day, and you'll have a...
