Bronze group of Children situated at at a pedestrian entrance/forecourt to the station fronting a McDonalds since 2006. Sculpture by Frank Meisler and commissioned by World Jewish Relief. The “Kindertransport” commenced in December 1938 and the last group from Germany left on the outbreak of WWII. The British Government permitted and facilitated this endeavour but the responsibility, care, housing and education of the children had to be guaranteed by private organisations and citizens, decidedly NOT the State. A previous commemorative bronze boy and girl, “Fur das Kind “ 2003 by Flor Kent stands at the entrance to the Underground.

This is a bronze memorial outside of the Liverpool Street station that really pulls at your heart strings. It is the work of sculptor Frank Meisler and was erected in 2006, commemorating the 10,000 Jewish children that arrived between 1938-39 fleeing Nazi persecution, many never to see their parents and extended families again. The monument includes six children of various ages appearing to just exit the station. Well worth a look-see when spending time in this area of London.

Bronze statue to remember the Jewish children saved from Nazis. They mostly came to the UK via rail so this is a very fitting place to add a little reminder on the horrors of WWII and that the kindness is the winning force

Itt családok, nevelőotthonok fogadták be a gyermekeket.
