So I was super lucky to be taken on a 10th date to Los Mochis on Liverpool Street.
Liverpool Street has changed a hell of a lot within the last 10-12 years, I remember going to Heron Tower (Duck & Waffle and Sushi Samba) but there are now a lot more different food concepts and combos. Los Mochis is half Japanese, half Mexican fusion restaurant which is a combo I had never heard of.
The entrance was lovely where they take your coat - I liked the wall decorations they had by lift. The lift takes you to the 9th floor and nothing could have prepared us for how busy the restaurant and outside rooftop bar were. Every single table was full and it was heaving.
I really liked the decor with cactuses and Aloe Vera plants fitted around the restaurant.
The great thing about this restaurant was that the entire menu was gluten free so my date could eat everything. 😎
We started with our drinks - I had a mocktail whilst he had his wine. The atmosphere was buzzing and it felt like a true summers evening in the City of London area. I noticed with both the outside and inside bar, the views overlooked St Paul’s Cathedral in the distance which was very pretty.
My date had a starter of salmon and I had the guacamole with fresh tortillas (something I’ve never had before). Both were delicious. We were advised by our waitress to order 4 dishes each which in hindsight was far too much. It meant we were too full for dessert which was a shame as I liked the sound of their baked Alaska.
The food came out in different stages and I had the soft shell tacos with spicy prawns which were fabulous whilst my date ordered a duck sushi type dish which he said was delicious. I also ordered the calamari which was very crispy. I also ordered black miso cod skewers which were fabulous and my date ordered lamb chops which were very tasty and tender. 🌮 🥩 🐟 🦐
As we were too full for dessert, I took the tacos and salmon home. But we then went outside to the bar and I had a cappuccino and Diet Coke and my date had his latte and finished his wine. The views were lovely and the atmosphere was actually quite tranquil and relaxed in comparison to the busy restaurant. it’s a very trendy place to be. I just wish they had put the heater on above us as it was a tad chilly by 10pm.
I felt really grateful to be taken to such a wonderful venue for our 10th date. My date has been a true gentleman and wanted me to experience really good food. He’s wonderful company and when I go to visit him at his home for the first time later this month, he will ask me to be his girlfriend. We’ve had a very slow and steady courtship and he has been extremely chivalrous and respectful taking me to some truly lovely restaurants.
Los Mochis was a fantastic date. It was expensive but the experience was fantastic. Great service, lovely staff, beautiful surroundings, what more could I ask for? ☺️❤️✨
I will add more photos and captions, it’s just getting overloaded when I try to...
Read moreI am writing to express my disappointment following our visit to your restaurant on June 17th, 2025, where we came to celebrate my partner’s birthday. We were a party of five and had chosen your venue based on glowing recommendations from friends. Let me begin by saying that we were truly impressed by the ambience and décor. The bar and restaurant were beautifully presented, and the welcome upon exiting the lift was warm and professional. We were also pleased with the table we were given. However, what followed during the rest of the evening was unfortunately not reflective of the standard we expected, and certainly not of a restaurant of your calibre. This was our first time dining at Los Mochis, and we were unfamiliar with how best to experience the menu. Our server (I believe his name was Bari – my apologies if this is misspelled) did not take the time to explain the menu or concept in any detail, beyond mentioning the Japanese-Mexican fusion – something we were already aware of. We noticed the option of a set menu designed to be shared between two guests, and decided to order five set menus, assuming one would be shared among three. At no point did the staff clarify how the dishes would be portioned, nor did they guide us in ensuring a balanced dining experience. We repeatedly asked different servers if the portions would be suitable for five guests, but received no clear answers. To make matters worse, some portions clearly came for three people, such as the nachos and guacamole which made it very awkward to divide among five guests while other dishes, such as the tacos, came individually, one per person. This inconsistency added confusion and frustration to what should have been a smooth, celebratory meal. In addition, we ordered bespoke Mezcal-based cocktails, but were clearly not served drinks containing Mezcal. As professional bartenders and bar managers ourselves, we are very familiar with the taste and profile of Mezcal. The issue seemed to be known, as the waiter came back three separate times to check if the drinks were “Palomas with Mezcal” – yet we were still served standard Palomas in the end. The food itself was excellent, which made the poor service even more disappointing. It genuinely affected the overall experience and left us with a sense of regret for choosing your restaurant for such a special occasion. What’s more frustrating is that, despite the underwhelming service, we still paid the £100 service charge out of courtesy though frankly, it felt undeserved. I take no pleasure in writing this , but I felt it was necessary to bring this to your attention. We were expecting an unforgettable evening for the right reasons, and sadly, it turned out memorable for the wrong ones. I hope you take this feedback seriously, as it comes from guests who appreciate good food and hospitality – and who would have otherwise gladly recommended your...
Read moreAmbience: This time Los Mochis outdid themselves creating a unique restaurant that probably will be very hard to match. You find traditional Mexican elements on the wall paired with modern and luxury elements. Dark marble tiles, oak panels on the wall and even on the roof with plants everywhere that give it a feeling that makes you forget that you are in London and reminds me of Tulum. Venetian walls with curved roofs and indirect lighting that creates an amazing atmosphere. For me it’s the most beautiful restaurant I have ever seen.
Service: You can tell that in every element Los Mochis is trying to raise the bar. The amount of people that are working there is astonishing. You don‘t have to wait very long, everything is cleaned immediately, they have a sommelier who can help with questions. The bottles are never kept on the table. I noticed on the table next to us that their wine glasses where nearly empty and one worker immediately rushed to refill them. So the attention level is very high. They are very friendly take a lot of time to explain the concept and never rush you. I find that very welcoming.
Food: If you have visited Los Mochis in Notting Hill than you should visit Los Moochis City. They have definitely improved their food. The dynamite prawns are not that spicy anymore and taste even better. Wagyu carne tataki, the meat is wagyu now and was a different meat before and the sauce is not that bitter anymore. Prawn Kushiyaki and Guacamole are next level. A must for everyone who visits. I love the chicken asado as it is grilled but my wife found it to be a bit dry. Trailer park chicken, that one I find to be a bit to crispy and taste too much like Korean BBQ chicken. The Panna cotta is completely different to what I have tasted so far, incredible dish and a must as well.
Price: Like always not cheap, but worth paying for as the quality of food is just amazing. We were two people ordered 8 dishes, 2 bottles of water and a desert. Total bill was £193 with 15% service charge. I find the service charge way to high, but at the end it’s London. Somehow you need to pay for so many people.
Conclusion: I would go again and can‘t wait to schedule my next evening at Los Mochis city. Definitely a unique space that has created a...
