What is the point of having a beautifully decorated cinema worthy of excellence, when it is so badly operated by the employees?
We were greeted by two people behind the desk who asked for our names in a pretentious and cold manner that made us feel completely unwelcome. Nevertheless, we headed downstairs but to our luck we were once again met with an equally pretentious staff member who looked as if she had been forced to attend work that evening and that anybody approaching her was a mere simpleton who should feel lucky to be breathing the same air as her.
Biting my tongue, we moved on and headed to the bar, but as the old adage says, good things come in threes! If there was an award show that night for most distasteful employee, the Bartender would have been the clear winner. This individual had an expression and demeanour that simply took your excitement away for the evening, similar to how a black hole swallows light. The stern faced Bartender asked us for the third time to see our booking details - why this was necessary will always be a mystery to me. However, it only served to make us feel utterly unwelcome and uncomfortable.
What the iceberg was to Titanic, these employees are to the Electric Cinema. Terribly service like this, is what sinks any worthy establishment. I implore upper management to have a serious review of its employees and replace them with pleasant individuals who want to work and give paying customers the experience...
Read moreWe recently went to the Electric Cinema in White City for an evening showing of The Substance and were excited to check it out based on recommendations. We were told itâs part of Soho House, which supposedly adds some exclusivity, but honestly, it just seemed to make the staff unnecessarily pretentious. None of the employees were particularly friendly, and they acted as if doing their jobs and serving paying customers was beneath them.
Our experience with the bartender downstairs was especially disappointingâhe was rude and seemed clueless. He couldnât understand simple requests and responded with one-word answers when we asked about the food menu. We decided to eat there since we had skipped dinner, but I wouldnât recommend it. The small plates are incredibly overpriced and not worth the money.
As for the movie itself, the overall experience was decent, but the sound was far too loud throughout the film. At times, it was almost unbearable. Itâs important to remember that people donât want to lose their hearing just from watching a movie.
In summary, while the setting was nice and the movie enjoyable, the service and sound issues left a lot...
Read moreGreat cinema, extremely comfortable seats and highest quality service. Iâm very happy to be a member at Soho House but I was a bit annoyed there was no popcorn. I have never been to a cinema without popcorn, I came fully expecting to see a butter dispenser for popcorn with different flavours. Did not live up to the expectation, but I did enjoy the movie and seats. Ended up having to settle for nachos which were okay but it was just very plain for a movie. I hope Nick Jones decides to implement popcorn into his cinemas because itâs just the only thing they lack. Not everyone wants a burger to eat while watching a movie. Other than that, I have nothing I can complain about with Soho House. The place lives past the expectations and staff are amazing. I needed to pray and the receptionist found me an empty quiet room with no music playing so I could focus on my prayer. The staff have always been amazing here. Great place, great cinema and great staff. Please bring popcorn to the cinema (preferably with a...
