At the corner of Cock Lane (seriously) and Giltspur Street this a golden statue of a child. The statue is a a small child, plump and naked in his birthday suit. Under the statue there is also a plaque inscribed with the words "This boy is in memory put up for the late fire of London Occasioned by the sin of gluttony 1666". The statue is easy to miss. Look up for a bit of fun in London.

Spending almost three weeks in London going to & fro Guy's, l needed things to look at. I found the little golden boy of pye corner. It was the finishing point of the Great Fire of London. It's amazing to find just how far it spread as it's further than St Paul's Cathedral. What with the Great Fire of London memorial, St Paul's & this statue, it was a great part of our history.

Took a bit to track down the Golden Boy of Pye Corner at Giltspur Street and Cock Lane, but it’s such a cool find! This little 17th-century statue, marking where the 1666 Great Fire stopped, sits high on the wall with its quirky “sin of gluttony” plaque—love the contrast with the modern buildings around it

Always look up when you are wandering around London! On the corner of Cock Lane and Giltspur Street. Beautiful golden chubby cherub like child with folded arms in an alcove high up above the street. Beneath it on the wall is a stone plaque with it's history. Originally erected on to a pub on the same site and attributed to the sin and gluttony that was supposed to be the cause of The Great Fire of London 1666. This is where the fire ceased. The pub called The Fortunes of War was famous for it's back room which housed cadavers purloined by bodysnatchers. The landlord arranged the cadavers on benches around the walls with the names of the bodysnatchers. So that the surgeon's of St Bart's Hospital could appraise them for the purposes of teaching student Dr's and Surgeons. In close proximity to Bart's Pathology Museum, Central Criminal Court (Old Bailey), Museum of London, St Paul's Cathedral, St Sepulchre's Church, London's first drinking fountain, Temple Church, Barbican and The River Thames, The Millennium Bridge, etc. Nearest stations are Temple, Blackfriars, Mansion House, St Paul's, and...
