Me and my partner stayed two nights at Hyde, and I honestly cannot fault it.
The bedroom was pristine, dust and dirt free. It was spacious, with a very comfy bed and the added benefit of a desk. There was a wardrobe with hangers to store clothes, a safe for valuables, minibar facilities and also adaptive lighting. Nightstand lights operated with a dial instead of a switch to adjust the brightness, and also featured a brighter reading spotlight which could be moved to the ideal position for the guest. Lighting around and above the bed could be controlled via a panel which had 4 different modes, including a night mode which provided good visibility without the intensity of bright light. An easy to use thermostat was also in place, and this provided satisfactory air-con, which was much appreciated given the August heat. The room even featured a Bang & Olufsen bluetooth speaker, which was a brilliant and unexpected addition.
Paying for the city view was definitely worth while; the view from our bedroom on the fifth floor was beautiful and really showcased traditional London architecture. I have included a photo of this in my review.
The bathroom, likewise, was spotless, with all the essential facilities. It featured a walk in shower with two different heads (a rain shower and an additional adjustable shower head). The shower unit was complete with shampoo, conditioner and body wash, all of which smelt lovely and were good quality. Prior to our stay, I had read the occasional review about flooding from the shower unit, but we had no issues with this. In fact, we could actually leave the shower door open and the only water that would escape was the occasional splash during use, as would be expected.
The design of our room, and the hotel in general, was the perfect balance between vintage and modern, which I believe would be aesthetically pleasing to a large range of personal tastes. The style was perhaps somewhat bohemian, and felt like the perfect theme for a getaway, like going into a luxury hideaway, very well suited to the hotel's name itself.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. I was assured upon check-in that should I have any needs I can always contact reception for assistance, even if it was in the middle of the night. The cleaning team did a wonderful job; returning for the second night was just the same as arriving for the first time, with the room having been completely refreshed. Check-out was so easy, it took less than a minute. I paid the £100 deposit on my credit card, and this was returned by the time I checked the next day.
The location is also ideal, being very well connected to a range of buses and trains. The nearest bus stop is just across the road, the nearest train station is Thames Link which is no more than a 5 minute walk away, and Blackfriars underground station was no more than 10 minutes away. Just a short walk away from St Paul's cathedral, surrounded by a mix of gorgeous old English architecture and modern skyscrapers, the Hyde fits seamlessly into the well blended atmosphere of London City.
The hotel provides an option breakfast add-on, which I cannot provide feedback on as we did not try this, but I am sure it would be to just as high of a standard as all the other features of Hyde. We did, however, visit the ground floor restaurant (Leydi) which provided exceptional Turkish cuisine. I will be leaving a separate review for this, but would highly recommend trying it to anyone staying at the hotel.
Overall, my partner and I both thoroughly enjoyed our visit, finding Hyde to be of a higher standard than other highly rated hotels we had been to, such as Hilton, for a perfectly reasonable price. Whilst Hyde is classed as a 4 star hotel, it is, in my opinion, worthy of 5 stars. I chose this hotel as it seemed to me to be the lowest price for the highest standard, and it either met or exceeded my expectations in every way. We would definitely...
Read moreThis is a really excellent and impressive hotel! ||I stayed for a birthday trip with my mum, reserving two rooms. The hotel is in a beautiful building in an interesting and enjoyable location in the city, maybe 5 minutes from St Paul's Cathedral. It was, however, quiet at night. ||The hotel has been renovated with real style and quality. Hyde is owned by Ennismore - the group behind Hoxton and some other great brands too. It shows - with their characteristic mix of great fabrics, materials, comfort, style and interest. The restaurant is beautiful - a contemporary nouveau Turkish style maybe? ||Rooms are genuinely cosy. They are comfortable with great beds, good linens, effective and quiet AC. They are not big, but we were given a kind upgrade, so there was plenty of room. I slept very well. It was great to have Chromecast and they have these awesome 'poncho' dressing gowns! The signal for normal TV wasn't great - something to look at. All the details you want are there, however, - good tea, coffee maker, fresh milk, in-room safe. ||Certainly in the double rooms, the bathroom door is frosted glass. I think that's not the right choice and the hotel will inevitably need to change that. In one room we had the bathroom was spacious and comfortable. In the other, a little on the cramped side. But in both were good fixtures, a really good shower and lovely amenities. ||The hotel recently restricted the breakfast menu, which is a little bit of a shame - with fewer distinctively Turkish dishes now. They've added a buffet option that looked OK but not outstanding. However the food we had was delicious. I had the menemen and it was really great. So were the croissants, eggs, bacon. The coffee is top-quality. I'd love to try the restaurant in the evening. ||In addition to all those great features, what impressed me most was the service. From start to finish it was consistently competent and friendly. We felt genuinely welcomed on arrival, and greeted each time we came back in. They got the details right and handled every query graciously and effectively. I felt like I was dealing with capable grown-ups, people not intimidated by requests or questions, and who were human and caring. It wasn't sycophantic, just professional, capable and kind. That's rare these days.||I'd definitely stay again and would 100% recommend. I'm looking forward to trying more hotels in the Hyde group, and...
Read moreAn Absolutely Exceptional Stay in the Heart of London! Our stay at Hyde London City was nothing short of exceptional, and we completely agree with all the glowing reviews – this hotel is a true gem! The location is simply unbeatable, right in the vibrant City of London, making it incredibly convenient for exploring St. Paul's Cathedral, hopping on the City Thameslink, and accessing all the capital has to offer. The hotel's design is absolutely stunning, perfectly blending historic charm with modern, stylish, and vibrant touches – it truly creates a unique and inviting atmosphere. What really made our experience stand out was the outstanding staff and service. Every team member we encountered was incredibly friendly, professional, and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and memorable. The cleanliness throughout the hotel was impeccable, and our room was wonderfully comfortable, providing a quiet and restful haven after busy days. The amenities were also excellent, contributing to a seamless visit. I would just note that the bathroom doors, while stylish, don't allow for complete privacy. This wasn't an issue for me as a solo traveler, but it's something couples might want to be aware of. However, this is a minor detail that absolutely did not detract from our overwhelmingly positive experience. We had a truly fantastic time and would wholeheartedly recommend Hyde London City for anyone looking for a stylish, comfortable, and perfectly located...
