In general all if the staff and technicians are friendly and helpful. The galleries are well lit , spacious and interesting. I haven't tried the cuisine so cannot comment on that. I do wonder though how artists manage to submit their work down to the blatant rudeness of one obnoxious female. I didn't get her name as it was hard to get her to even acknowledge me nevermind anything else. She is a short, extremely important woman who clearly thought her position was such that I was so far beneath her I was not worthy of her attention. I was at the Mall Galleries to submit some huge, very heavy sculptures and was promised the help of some technicians to unload. I arrived at the drop off point where she and two colleagues were looking at a large screen picking out works for the show. I waited for seven minutes before interrupting her and asking if anybody would mind summoning the help. She looked me up and down and said 'what do you want?' I told her and she made a call saying only, 'there's another one here.' A further ten minutes passed before I interrupted her again to say I had driven 350 miles to submit this work and I had further clients to see and could she please enquire as to the whereabouts of the technicians I was promised. She said in a short, terse voice that he would be here. Without banging on about it too much longer I would like it to be known that i do not expect to be spoken to and treated in the manner which that awful, self important little monster dished out. And just so as she can be identified, she is probably around 5'3", couldn't really tell as she didn't get off her arse, brown, bobbed hair and I guess later twenties to early thirties. My visit was on Monday 23rd September at...
Read moreMy mum and I are friends of the gallery - which means we pay a yearly entry fee. This entitles you to as many entries as you like all year as well as access to private evening talks and taster classes amongst other things. Most recently we visited the Botanical Exhibition which was excellent, the talent of the students on the course was outstanding. We like that the mall galleries are not pretentious and all sorts of genres and styles of works are on display - some you can purchase too! We have seen works from £400 up to £200k!
The small cafe on site is well priced for London with plenty of seats amongst the walls of the gallery.
The only area I believe could be improved upon is the baggage/cloakroom. It is not private nor secure so I would not risk leaving valuables/coats here.
The entrance has a small gentle ramp, though the doors are not automatic. There is a lift to take you to the lower ground floor of the gallery and a side ramp to access another room - though this one...
Read moreI visited the galleries to see the 40th Anniversary of The Society of Botanical Art Plantae Exhibition. It cost £5 to get in, well worth it. Beautiful, stunning artwork. The gallery is small, clean, bright, neat, quiet and all staff are lovely. You enter on ground floor with steps down to a slightly lower level. There is a lift and a large clean disabled toilet. There is an area to hang coats on but not in a safe area as anyone can use or walk past. Nice tiny cafe bar with a super polite guy running it. Sandwiches and cakes, teas and coffees priced fair. Some tables and chairs or benches in the gallery to eat and drink on. Very enjoyable few hours. Will visit again, lovely place and only quarter of a mile or so from...
