I often cycle past St. George's just to take time and marvel at the structure, shape and form of this magnificent church. The Architect who designed this was John James, one of Sir Christopher Wren's assistant's, and it shows in shape and scope. It cost £10,000 pounds to build which is an enormous sum of money by today's standards and was consecrated by Edmund Gibson, Bishop of London, on March 23rd, 1725. Read moreA great little church building with lots of history. It's 3 minutes' walk from Regent Street, so is an excellent place to rest during a shopping trip! Our visit was due to it being the composer Handel's church for many years (we also visited his house 3 minutes' walk away), and we found that it was where many famous people were married, including Percy Shelley, Benjamin Disraeli, Theodore Roosevelt, Amy Johnson, George Eliot and Marconi.
