Read moreI have been to the Glades probably 500 times over the last 10 years. Never had an issue there. regularly park my car there when I go to the gym . At around 19h20 on Sunday 12 January 2025, a security guard made a threatening remark to me in front of my partner and son after we protested along with a family of a handicapped woman about being locked out of the car park downstairs in the mall. He saw the whole thing as very amusing. Imagine this - its excruciatingly cold, its dark , we have a child and we just want to get home.. he said he did not like my "comportment" as I was out of breath (he assumed I was agitated with him )and trying to get home after the gym and after mocking me for having not seen "the rules" (which do not state that they can and WILL keep your car from you ) on the parking ticket. He then followed us - for some unknown reason - up the escalator. I walked into the car park away from him and when I saw he had followed us into the car park, gave my 10 year son (who is autistic and was becoming anxious and scared) my bag and told him to go back to the car. I walked up to the security guard and asked him what he wanted as there was no reason for him to follow us like that into a deserted car park at night . he came up to my face. Then my wife came between us to defuse the situation. He then switched on his chest cam and started mocking us and laughing at us, and trying to provoke me into fighting him as he would then have evidence which would have worked against me. Truly devious , disrespectful, disgraceful behaviour, with no intention at all of defusing the situation. In fact only intent on escalating the situation into a violent confrontation. I will never go to the Glades with my...
Read moreThe Glades in Bromley is a solid choice for a local shopping centre, offering a convenient and generally pleasant experience for residents and visitors alike. It strikes a good balance between well-known high street brands and some smaller, independent shops, making it a versatile destination for a variety of needs.
Good Mix of Shops: You'll find a decent array of popular stores like M&S, H&M, Boots, Zara, and River Island, which cover most everyday shopping requirements, from fashion to health and beauty. The presence of the "Regent Arcade" with smaller boutiques adds a nice touch of diversity.
Convenient Location & Accessibility: Situated right in the heart of Bromley, it's easily accessible. The two main entrances (Widmore Road and Kentish Way) help manage foot traffic, and the on-site car park is a huge plus, even if it's not free (though after 6 pm it's a very reasonable £1.10). For those commuting, its proximity to Bromley South train station is a definite advantage.
Cleanliness and Facilities: The centre generally feels clean and well-maintained. They also offer helpful services like Shopmobility (for those needing mobility assistance), baby changing facilities, and even a "Safe Sanctuary" for anyone feeling overwhelmed, which is a thoughtful addition.
Community Focus: It's clear The Glades tries to be more than just a shopping centre, with events and initiatives like the "Wild Glades" biodiversity project and the Bromley Well Wellbeing Hub providing valuable...
