Summary: Attended a funeral here recently and aside from the staff I overall was not very impressed with the cemetery. There are better quality and more Islamically compliant alternatives out there with far better surroundings, where graves are maintained consistently and equally.
Staff Friendly, approachable and seem to be doing their job well.
Grounds Overall, quite crowded and car parking is very limited though there is overflow available for around 20 extra vehicles. Walking around the site after the funeral, some parts feel like a jungle and others a little more tidier. Note that there is a small road that encircles parts of the cemetery but there is only space for one vehicle at a time and 'curbing' cars is quite common as I observed.
Graves Sadly, because the responsibility of maintaining the grave is on the relatives of the deceased, many are not maintained (at all) and it seems the cemetery management (for whatever reason) have not given the site a consistent cleanup. There is so much plant overgrowth in some parts it's quite disturbing and it isn't, imho, the way a cemetery should be maintained.
Mixed site for Christian's and Muslims Observers of the Islamic faith should be aware that this is a mixed site and though the land for different religions seems separated either by shrubs or a path or internal road, it is a generally held scholarly opinion based on sound evidence that a deceased Muslim should be buried in a cemetery that is exclusively for Muslims UNLESS there is no option available at the time. In the case of London in the current era, there are plenty of Muslim-only cemeteries which actually cater for the community in a much more religiously aligned way than cemeteries like Woodgrange. If you have a choice, I wouldn't advise burying a Muslim relative here for the sake of your "convenience" in terms of proximity to the grave. For those wise enough to have a Will, consider stipulating this in your Will just incase someone decides otherwise when...
Read moreThis grave yard is the worse place to get anyone of your loved ones buried the place is very badly maintened. I would plead with everyone not to. The caretaker is bloody useless, always promising to do the work and never does. When the work is not done then his response is we are busy. Despite my request to him numerous times to fix my mother's and grandmother's grave for 2 years and 4 months respectively it has fallen on deaf ears. I have even text him all the details, at his request. By the way this guy Wayne will not let you get a word edge wise. Only wants you to hear his words. I am looking to get in touch with the owners to speak to them directly. Not sure they will help. Does anyone have any details. I'm giving a fat zero for the yard, Unfortunately it...
Read moreAn historical grave. With graves going back to WW1. My father is buried here. I visit every week. Recently Eddie did my fathers grave up. Put borders around the grave etc. generally made it look not neglected. Eddie did a wonderful job. He was very helpful when I first contacted him winter last year. This cemetery is unusual in that there is a diversity of faiths buried here. Muslim Christian alike. Coming here makes you realise that in the end we are all going to the same place. Shame we cannot live in peace in the real world as we lie peacefully in our graves. Irrespective of...
