Beautiful walk along Lyme's historic harbour wall. Pleased to see that over the years the town has been thoughtfully developed and maintains a great deal of its historical past while allowing it to be a seaside destination town with a terrific sandy beach. Incredible cliff views in both directions in today's sunshine and a great February morning spent walking the lanes and roads.

When you are walking in the stairs you can’t imagine how gorgeous will be the view 😍. Lovely place to admire the beauty of the sea. Is a nice place to have a walk around, just know that if it’s so windy you can’t climb to the top, because can be dangerous. Nice place.

Having looked online and seen the options, I figured that our party of 12 would appreciate a "best of both" experience starting from West Bay, near Bridport, and ending at Lyme Regis. As this particular dish was not on the Lyme Bay RIB Charter menu, I picked up the phone and spoke with LBRC's very polite, knowledgeable and helpful Zoe. We agreed on an à la carte package that would combine sightseeing with the fast, furious and frantic!

And we certainly got our money's worth...

Our skipper, Milo, first took us East down the coast on a relatively sedate jaunt to Bridport, where he turned off the engines and stopped the RIB a few hundred yards out from the beach. Very scenic, very enjoyable.

After a couple of minutes, though, it was time to fire up the engines, open the throttles and light up the afterburners as 700hp propelled us West towards Lyme Regis at SPEED, lifting up and crashing down as the RIB ploughed across the choppy late-October waters.

After some time, we slowed down to catch our breaths, and I swapped my row four (out of six) seat for one at the FRONT. Then it was back up to SPEED. Wow, wow, wow, wow, WOW!

Our exhilarating 45 minute experience came to an end as we slowly navigated into the harbour at Lyme Regis - 12 smiling faces and 12 great memories.

Would we do it all...

Great seaside resort. Lots of shops and cafes. Parking can be an issue close to the beach if you're not there early. That said, there is a close-by Park and Ride service, so that's a convenient alternative. Great shops to mooch around. And if going fossil hunting, head to the beach, past the Mary Anning statue, as this beach is not only awe-inspiring, but you may take home an ammonite. Do check tide times on at least two reputable websites first as it can be dangerous. Also, wear sensible footwear as slipways etc become very slippery under foot. You won't...

Very helpful Harbourmaster and a most pleasant night on the pontoon. One shower available through the Office. No electricity on the summer pontoons and water obtainable in the inner harbour only (I think, didn't look hard as we didn't need any). Good value, nearly half the price of marinas of western Lyme Bay and Plymouth. I don't think I'd like to be there in a SEasterly...
