Lyme Regis is one of the coasts known for its' fossil sources. Plus, there are a lot of places for eating in (e.g. fish and chips, ice cream), buying things like jewellery, groceries and gifts, or, simply, sightseeing. Plus, if you walk even further along the coast at low tide, you'll be able to visit Charmouth; and, if you walk along the coast in the other direction, and then go up the stairs from the local car park, then walk West along the coast, you'll find the Undercliffs of Lyme Regis (which could be dangerous in bad weather!) Good visibility of the whole beach so parents can keep an eye on the kids but it does get very busy in summer. Head down towards the cobb for less crowded crabbing and look out for all the free events and activities run throughout the year. Clearly the town has a whole bunch of dedicated volunteers who do an amazing job creating a wonderful safe environment.
