Pros - Plenty of space and high climbing facilities.
Cons - horrible food and lack of care.
At 11am few of the staff members looked as they had sleepless night. Most of the time in idle "mode" ;)
For a meal we got very miserable looking panini buns with cheese and a portion of beans of which the moisture had completely evaporated probably during prep, tasted as wood shredes. Also for our kids we took cheese toasties, unbelievably white (like it never touched the toaster) with a half melted cheese on, no butter. There was no fresh salads, no cakes.. Poor menu. Dry, bland, not worth the money, a very big let down.
Play area for children is pretty big but cold and looked very worn out and tired, the "pool" with plastic balls is rather dangerous, kids slid inside on a bare wooden board, kinda makeshift thing, also we noticed few cracked balls with sharp edges exposed. On the premises our children also found a baby bottle filled with old rotten gunk. Many parents wore shoes. A bit grose.
We visited many soft play centres, big and small, cheap and expensive, and based on our experience I can only say that Rock Over Climbing does not look very inviting at all, it does not resemble a lovely and comfortable place to be where you could spend some great time with kids and friends in...
Read moreI've been a member here for nearly a year and it's unclear where the £50 per month fee is going. Most of the holds are seriously old, not to mention dirty, and the volumes are worn down. The space isn't being maintained. It's full of cobwebs, mats and floor are visibly dirty and roof is leaky in many places. Moonboard is often out of action because it's under a leak. Mens hand drier has been broken for months and the toilets often smell terrible. RockOver prides itself on being inclusive but doesn't enforced the shirt-on policy. Toilets are unnecessarily separated by gender rather than facilities. Gym area is ill equipped. Mirrors have been removed, there's only three 1-person mats to warm up on, and there's no cardio machines. There's also no water fountain. Bless the poor staff having to fill bottles a thousand times a day. Another serious annoyance is the significant amount of time with bare walls when routes are changed. Go in on a Monday or Tuesday day or evening and likely a bunch of routes have been removed and not replaced. I really wish the owners of this place would show it a bit of love because it's honestly a community hub. The staff are great and always happy to help. It's a real shame the whole place is...
Read moreMy friend offered to take me climbing for the first time in years. Before we arrived I was told it important to stay hydrated. I was handed a bottle of water, unbeknownst to me had been spiked with LSD. I arrived at the gym and was met by friendly staff who welcomed me. I had a coffee and got my shoes on and approached the wall.
As I began to climb the hand holds melted off in my hands, and soon I was swimming in a multicoloured sea. I drifted for hours and was eventually swallowed in a whale. All went dark and every fear and insecurity for the past 3 and a half decades visited me.
I snapped out of it sometimes later. I was naked, it was raining and I was on the roof, surrounded by the police, I screamed which startled one of the officers and they fired a Taser at me. I fell off the roof, the Taser bars ripped my nipple off as I fell down. I gained a concussion. When I woke in the hospital they said they couldn't save my nipple, it was charred black from the electricity.
I was released on bail and got my own climbing shoes the next day a got a month membership.bwould recommend this place to anyone.
My court date is next month, wish me luck so I can continue climbing here!
Also the coffee was...
