I normally go to the other chippy in Didsbury so have been interested how this place might compare. The chips were really good, both in taste and crispness - better than the other chippy. The fish was good but I felt the fillet was not quite the quality of the other place. Batter was nice and crispy. Mushy peas were well seasoned and the portion size was definitely more generous than the other chippy. Everything was warm and well-packed. Finally, the staff were very friendly and the price was more reasonable than the other place - I may have a new Didsbury favourite!

Really awful ā€œchippy.ā€ Not a traditional chop shop and is trying to be trendy. Food is bland the potatoes they use are rotten - see picture. At first glance, I thought they were skin on potatoes but no the potatoes are grey/black and rotten!!! Fish had no taste and was thin of batter. Curry sauce is so thick it’s like jelly - same consistency as congealed fat. Avoid and go elsewhere!

I love this chippy and I would say I am a chips and curry sauce connoisseur! Chips are proper chunky and fresh and there are 3 types of curry sauce. My only gripe is the sauce tub needs to be a tiny bit bigger. The guy that works there is really nice so overall 5 star 🌟

Fish and chips, Mini fish and chips, Battered sausage, and Irish curry sauce. To start with the positves, the irish curry sauce was probably the best ive ever had, really top and a must order. The chips were also just about as good as your gonna get with vegetable oil. Great blistered texture and Im assuming atleast twice cooked? They were crisp and fluffy, really nice. The portion sizes were reasonable. For the standard fish and chips you get (Ā£9.70) a largeish container of chips and a small fillet of fish.. although when comparing it to the "mini fish and chips" I wouldnt be suprised if the "mini" is a trim cut off a larger fillet... mabye... in any case the fish was also good, and the batter light, airy, and not overly greasy. The battered sausage were served from the counter heater and to be honest, I weirdly enough prefer them like that, but I think most people dont, so probably worth flagging. Chips and fish were quickly wrapped and served without asking if wed like salt or vinegar... i think they were seasoned, but we wanted more vinegar and more salt... In summary, if your looking to wind back the clock to the good old days of Beef Tallow and Coal mines, you wont find that here. But if your looking for a good clean fish and chips that wont break the bank or an artery, this is probably worth a shot and with a few small changes this could be one of the best chippys...

We have been here three times over the last few months whenever we’ve been in the mood for a tasty chippy. Each time we’ve given it the benefit of the doubt as the food has been alright and better than alternatives in the area.

However, be warned that there are ALWAYS ridiculously long wait times. Last night we waited nearly 40 minutes after ordering to get our food. It did seem a particularly busy night, but we’ve experienced this numerous times before, so it’s not just a one off.

Staff seem uninterested in serving patrons in a timely fashion, and there always seems to be a wait for…chips. Arguably the most important component at a chippy. The fish tasted overly oily too.

There’s also an alarming number of people just eating their food in the space, if you’ve seen it, it’s not big. So having 15 (drunk) people eating while there’s another 15 waiting was really poor. Tell them to eat outside! It’s not a...

I come to this chippy semi regularly and the chips are always great. They have a very good selection of sauces, including three types of curry sauce and the gravy and mushy peas are glorious.

The meat and potato pies are extremely nice, and I regularly get the battered sausage, whereby the sausage is a naughty combination of flavour, without being too fancy. I'd like to think I speak for most of the nation when I say I like a heavily herbed/spiced sausage, but not with my chippy tea.

Only downfall with this place, and it's quite important for a chippy, is that the fish isn't great. But take my word that the other stuff is lovely. If you want battered fish, I'd recommend you go to anchor's up the road and pay £20 for the cod, because the pollock is...
