Cafe within Millfield House was very underwhelming today, nothing like the nice place it was a few years ago. Sausage sandwich was £2.90,sausage was about 6 hours old barely warm and bone dry, served up in an unbuttered brioche bun, sweet mince pie just crumbled away in my hand. Not good value at all, I can get a full English breakfast in South Shields for £5.50 just for comparison. The room was cold unheated bare wooden floor, no crockery or cutlery, just paper bags. It was transformed by Newcastle Council from one of the most attractive, popular, family and people friendly restaurants to a desolate, uninviting dump: The worst hostel type environment you could imagine. Two courtyard tables outside only - strange for a busy bank holiday. Overpriced drinks £3 each = £9 for two coffee's and a muffin. Toilets very dirty with taps damaged.
