This is my 2nd review of the corner house....and my stars haven't increased....i ordered of the mix chicken menu as did all 3 of us. I ordered 6 boneless wings...I would love to see the chicken they came from they were tiny, over cooked tasted like grease. The "2" chicken filets were slimy and more like one CUT in 2....I took them to the bar as not happy with them. The lady was very nice but when I explained they "boneless " chicken wings tasted like grease she said well they are deep fried.....I did change my order and it was slightly better but not worth the price £10.19... I was still eating when a young lady asked if I was finished and im still sitting here with my plate will staff walking past......at no point was a check back done! To me that's the 1st thing I would do....plenty of staff to do this.....I do think I will give this a miss going forward as that's my last two meals I didn't enjoy. And then....a click and paste response.....like my last review response......

Vile. Not sure how this is allowed to be open and serve food. Thr worst food and hygiene Ive ever seen in a pub. The toilets were covered in rubbish and when the food eventually arrived...well the fish had been fried so long the fish had run away leaving an almost empty shell of batter. Unfortunately, the batter (and accompanying chips) were fried in oil that is long overdue changing so had that awful taste...you know the type that makes your toes curl?! As for the service...when we arrived there were notes on the tables saying they were reserved for the quiz. The quiz? So they'd rather turn away food-buying customers in exchange for groups of folks who might buy a couple of drinks? Its not exactly welcoming. This was the 2nd time we'd tried this place, to give it the second chance and we've no idea whats going on there, but its not good. We will NEVER eat here again.

I have been here a few times over 15-20 years, but this was the first time I wasn't that impressed. Don't get me wrong, there wasn't anything particularly wrong, but it was little things like serving tacos in an army mess tin that wasn't practical and just seems a bit odd. We tried to order bbq burnt ends taco and wanted to pay extra and add Halloumi as they actually do tacos with Halloumi, but unfortunately, this isn't an option which seemed a little weird. You did get 2 tacos (only one in the picture) which made the portion a good size. We also ordered mayo loaded fries but unfortunately they didn't have the mayo and the portion was smaller than expected (see picture) Having said that, I would go back as someone on another table ordered a burger, which was served on a plate and looked really nice so maybe we just need to keep it simple.

So, the corner house is both a pub and a hotel. I've only been to the pub and not the hotel, so this review is for the pub alone.

The pub has a lovely atmosphere, that seems friendly, full of spirit, full of spirits, and cosy. The lighting and decorations in this place really makes you feel at home, all warm and relaxed. The seating is good quality, and the tables are a beautiful dark wook. Unfortunately, the lavish appearance of this pub is let down by the quality of the service, drinks, and food ...

As someone who doesn't drink much alcohol, I ordered a coke. And what was presented to me was brown water. It barely tasted like coke, and instead just tasted like soda water. They did rectify this issue to be fair, but it shouldn't have been an issue in the first place. To give credit though, the bar does have a large variety of drinks

The menu appears huge at first, but it's just the font, and organisation that make it look like a lot. The menu doesn't really have much variety, which makes it rather annoying when ordering, as there isn't much to choose from. To describe the pricing of the food, imagine wetherspoons, but a little bit more expensive.

The serving sizes are quite large, but really unsatisfying and unfilling. I'm quite a thin person, and yet I didn't feel the slightest bit full after finishing an XL meal. The fries were cold, however the chicken burger I had was really nice. I was there with my family, and there were a few other issues with other peoples food. My grandad's steak was overcooked, some people were missing things, and my grandad's and my dad's food came 10 minutes later than everyone else's, despite ordering them at the same time.

The service wasn't too good either. Even though we reserved the table, there wasn't enough cutlery on the table. The staff at the bar were chatting far too much while they should have been storing drinks for customers, and they seemed quite arrogant when we asked for more cutlery, or complained about the drink.

Overall, the pub isn't too bad as a pub, but as a place that markets itself as a food place, it's rather disappointing. If the place only marketed itself as a pub, the review...

Brought my mum into town and since I had a nice roast here before On a Sunday we went here, however this time it was a mess and I was left embarrassed that I brought her here. The staff brought drinks out quickly and right but the first roast came and then we didn’t see another waiter for 8 mins! At which point they brought my roast out, my mum still hadn’t got hers and we were watching ours cool down, 5 mins later hers came out at which point ours weren’t even warm .They also didn’t even bring the extra gravy we paid for or the starters we ordered, I had to go to the bar and ask the lady what’s going on, to which she said the gravy’s already on, but I’m certain it wasn’t because there was barely any gravy on the plate at that point and I paid for extra. And what appeared to be the manager was being blunt and rushing me as if she hadn’t just ruined my meal I paid over £50 for, I don’t think I’ll ever come here for a roast again, it was tasty but the service was dreadful considering it wasn’t even busy, I’d say they were 10-20% full at most, ok for a pint but avoid the kitchen as they don’t seem very co ordinated...

Decided on the cornerhouse for my birthday meal, big mistake!! We ordered at 5.40pm, had not arrived by 6.10pm, i asked at the bar and was told it was because of a large buffet, came eventually at 6.20pm and had my order wrong so got my meal at 6.45pm. The food once it arrived was good but the long and order mixup was pretty poor. The delay also meant I was starting my meal when my family had finished theirs, no complementary ice cream wad offered to my 6 year old or anything so whole experience was very unsatisfactory. Management would have known in advance about any functions and should have ensured enough staff were around. We also got a bit of a frosty reception when leaving with the waitress cleanimg the table beside us totally ignoring us as we were leaving. Would have giving one star but two as food was good, but poor service and attention to customers.

Covid update. I went twice during the half price offer during the pandemic and was very impressed with the staff and they organized it. Nice welcome and clear instructions with food arriving...
