Nestled in the heart of culinary excellence, Wagamama stands as a beacon of vibrant flavors and unforgettable dining experiences. As an avid lover of Asian and Japanese cuisine, I found myself captivated by the culinary wonders that this restaurant has to offer. With every visit, Wagamama effortlessly transports diners to a world where taste buds dance with joy and where every dish is a work of art.

The moment you step into Wagamama, you are greeted by an ambiance that balances modernity with a hint of tradition. The clean lines, communal seating, and open kitchen concept reflect the essence of Japanese dining culture, where meals are not merely consumed, but celebrated. The inviting atmosphere sets the stage for the gastronomic journey that awaits.

One of the most remarkable aspects of Wagamama is their dedication to using fresh, high-quality ingredients. The menu boasts an array of dishes that cater to diverse palates, from mouthwatering ramen bowls to delectable donburi options. Each plate is a masterpiece, a testament to the culinary prowess of the chefs who pour their heart and soul into every creation.

The star of the show, undoubtedly, is the ramen. Wagamama's ramen is a symphony of flavors and textures, with noodles that possess the perfect al dente consistency and broths that are both deeply comforting and rich in complexity. Whether you're a fan of the classic Tonkotsu ramen or prefer the fiery embrace of the Chilli Chicken Ramen, each bowl is a ticket to umami paradise.

Venturing beyond ramen, Wagamama continues to shine. The sushi selection is a parade of colors and tastes, showcasing the artistry that goes into crafting each roll. The fusion of fresh seafood, crisp vegetables, and creamy avocado results in a harmonious blend that's as pleasing to the eye as it is to the palate. The Chicken Katsu Curry, a delightful marriage of crispy breaded chicken and velvety curry sauce, is a testament to the diverse influences that inspire the menu.

Service at Wagamama is a delight in itself. The staff exudes warmth and professionalism, making every guest feel like a valued member of the Wagamama family. The menu can be overwhelming for newcomers, but the servers are always ready to provide insightful recommendations, ensuring that each diner's preferences are catered to.

No dining experience at Wagamama is complete without indulging in their delectable desserts. The yuzu-laced cheesecake is a tangy revelation, while the Matcha Tiramisu offers a modern twist on a beloved classic. These desserts are the perfect conclusion to a feast that ignites the senses and leaves an indelible mark on one's culinary memory.

In an era where dining has become more than just sustenance, Wagamama offers an escape, a chance to savor moments of culinary brilliance. Each dish tells a story of dedication, creativity, and an unyielding passion for authentic Asian and Japanese flavors. Wagamama is not just a restaurant; it's a culinary journey that transports you to the bustling streets of Tokyo, the serene gardens of Kyoto, and the vibrant markets of Bangkok.

In conclusion, Wagamama is a treasure trove for those seeking an immersive dining experience that celebrates the very best of Asian and Japanese cuisine. With an inviting ambiance, an exquisite menu, and a commitment to culinary excellence, Wagamama has earned its place as a haven for food enthusiasts. Prepare to embark on a gastronomic adventure that will awaken your taste buds and leave you...

It was one of those times when I thought to myself, what do I want to eat, I will go with something I know and like, it’s getting late and all that.

I was staying in Nottingham for a conference and having arrived the day before, I headed out to get something to eat. I chose Wagamama as I do like the food and the restaurant was relatively close to my hotel as well. I had looked on Google Maps before heading to Nottingham to see what was around, but the few places I looked at were not open on a Monday night.

Wagamama was heaving and I had to wait for a table, normally I prefer not to wait, but I did think all I probably would do would be walk around a bit and then end up back at Wagamama. I was a little surprised on how busy it was, this was the end of June on a Monday. All the students would have “gone home” and I would be surprised there would be that many visitors around compared to July or August.

After waiting for a short while I was shown to my table. I had missed out on lunch so was quite hungry, so I ordered the chilli squid, pork + panko apple bao buns, and yasai yaki soba.

Despite the busyness or the place, it wasn’t too long before my food arrived.

The chilli squid, is Wagamama’s iconic crispy fried squid tossed in shichimi spice. served with a chilli + coriander dipping sauce.

This was lovely generous portion of crispy squid. They’ve stopped doing the crispy chilli mushrooms which I may have ordered as an alternative. I did think about having the hot honey fried chicken, but went with the squid; I do like the squid and it was nice and tasty.

The next dish to arrive was the pork + panko apple bao buns, which was two buns, that contained slow-cooked pork belly with crispy panko-coated apple, sriracha and vegan mayo, topped with coriander.

I would usually have the mixed mushroom bao buns, I also thought about trying out the korean barbecue beef, but I liked the sound of the pork and apple buns. The pork was tender and soft, which contrasted well with the crispy apple.

My main dish was a regular choice of mine, the yasai yaki soba. This is mushrooms, soba noodles cooked with egg, peppers, beansprouts, onion, pickled ginger, crispy fried onions and sesame seeds.

I think it needed more mushrooms. The amount of mushroom in this dish is rather inconsistent when I have this dish, which surprises me. Despite the lack of mushrooms, it was a very tasty dish and I enjoyed it.

Overall the food I had was very tasty and rather filling. I don’t think I really should have two side dishes with my main course, but it is hard then to choose just one. Maybe next time I will just have side...

This was going to be a 1 Star until we spoke to the manager....

We visited Wagamamas for an early Valentine's Day Treat as we are both off. We arrived before there was a queue outside and were given a high table with wobbily seats.

We ordered one main each, I ordered the kare burosu ramen and my partner ordered shirodashi ramen.

My partner's shirodashi ramen arrived at 12.36, ten minutes in we got asked what we were missing, they said they would chase it up with the kitchen. Ten minutes later the same waitress had visited other tables and gave out orders, so we asked someone else who was going to chase it up. A shirodashi ramen (Pork Belly) was presented to me... When told it wasn't mine they proceeded to find out who it belong to, it was then taken back to the kitchen as they had obviously made up the wrong meal for me.

Chased it up again as it had now been 25 minutes and even though my partner took breaks to prolong his meal he had already finished. My meal then arrives after 30 minutes.... But where are one of the main ingredients? The Kare burosu ramen is broth, tofu, mushrooms and greens. My meal had double the amount of broth than normal. I told them I was missing mushrooms, five minutes later a bowl of mushrooms are presents.... three minutes later I was asked "is that better now?".... Why yes, to have a meal with all the correct ingredients is much improvement!

We have visited Wagamama many times, it's the first time visiting the Nottingham branch, and everyone's table always seemed to have one person having their meal and the other doesn't. One table of three near us had the same problem that one person had finished their meal before the other two even received theirs.

There was a lot of staff on the floor so I don't think it was due to lack of staff.

We spoke to the manager and put forward our disappointment, she took my meal off the receipt which was good because it was a ridiculous experience and she said we could have a dessert to share which was nice. She said that there was a problem with the kitchen and lack of communication. If there was a problem with a second of the kitchen then this should have been stated to everyone at seating or ordering stage.

We also asked for napkins at the start of my partner's meal but of course there was no chance in receiving them.

Not sure what the answer is on this branch but from our experience and the customers around us something needs to happen! I was very tempted to tell the people queuing outside the door...

Review time!!!!! I’ll start by saying I haven’t come to Wagamama’s for just over a year, it’s not really a ritual place for me. But in the week my boyfriend said I think we’re due a Waga’s date and we came. We started and sat where we wanted to because it wasn’t all that busy, about 7pm, greeted by one waitress but then had a lovely chat with another. Kez, Kezia gave fab interactions without being overbearing. Thanks for that. You added to the experience. My friends recommended their new cocktails and food menu but I won’t lie I am a bit of a repeat orderer. But we gave it a go with: BBQ Korean beef bao buns Kokopanko chicken - which Kez recommended Katsu chicken (obvs) Yaki soba with chicken & prawn Drinks - My partner had their Thai chilli margs and I had a lychee blush sangria I’m not one to rant and rave about Wagamamas right but I think this might have been the best meal I’ve had in about 3 months. It was such an enjoyable experience, the food came out pretty quickly and mostly all together (no more than 3ish minutes a part). The food was so fresh, hot, and damn tasty. Do you have new kitchen staff? The Kokopanko chicken really impressed me and my partner, such a wonderful mixture of flavours. Definitely recommend. Even though I made us get a katsu which I feel is pretty basic, it’s a classic for a reason and I am lucky enough to have a partner than goes halves on me with mains as well as side. We were ever so pleasantly surprised with the cost to! A tiny bit over £30 per person for all of this. Thanks. Would definitely recommend and definitely will be back to try more of the new(ish) menu!
