If you are unvaccinated do not apply for the BA (Hons) Social Work course. In the middle of my studies the mandatory vaccine requirement came into force. This was a problem for me since I have to complete two placements as part of the course and these are based in healthcare settings where students need to be vaccinated. NTU failed to make it clear that vaccines would be a mandatory requirement for students and this led to me going to my placement and being refused because I am unvaccinated. The University is unprofessional and they were reluctant to sort me another placement out. I was told by their rude staff that i would have to defer. They do not follow procedures and treat their students poorly. It is true that University is a buisness and from my experience I can confirm that Ntu are after your money. Zero support or basic empathy is provided to you in times of distress. The staff will just offer to refer you to student support services if they can see that you are struggling - and this isn’t because they actually care for you, they do this to cover their backs and follow procedure. This is the only procedure that they do follow. Stay away at all costs and be prepared to be discriminated and treated differently on this course if you are...

Overall, I actually think its a very nice University and before being at this one, I was at the University of Liverpool, and despite Liverpool being a Russell Group and NTU not being one, I have to say that actually this one has a better campus, better teaching staff and better facilities.
The City Campus is well organised, all the buildings are great places to study in and are of a variety of architectural styles and ages. Teaching is good, resources are easy to access online and in-person.
In summary, I think this University is good and it deserves the multiple "University of the Year" awards that it has received over the years. It is a modern University and is constantly improving itself. Most courses can be accessed with mid-range A-Level grades and I do believe that this University probably offers the best experience outside of the Russell Group.
I ultimately left after a few months because I decided I wanted to do a degree in a subject that I couldn't do with my current A-Levels, so I am aiming to begin an Access to HE and an extra A-Level in September 2025, and to go to University again in...
Read moreThis review relates to one member of staff in the Cashiers' Office, Arkwright Building and by no means reflect our views on NTU (which we regard to be a brilliant University). Our experience relates to the female member of staff in the Cashiers' Office this morning (22.11.23 at circa 10.30 am). The slightly younger of the two and definitely the most work shy. The rudeness she showed when addressing students (she does realise that it is because of the students/customers that she has a job?). This same member of staff was peering over the screens to see how many more students were lined-up and grimacing at the length of the queue. Then she proceeded to make a personal call, leaving her colleague to do all the work! Her arrogant and brusque manner is unacceptable and do not fall in line with the high standards set by the University - she does not represent the University at all well. The overseas students pay the highest fees and do not need to be treated in such an infamous manner, it's a wonder they [the overseas students] don't take their...
