I regularly spend a day in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. Each visit is planned for maximum enjoyment and learning. I always spend time in Boatshed4 looking closely at all the boats, tools, people at work etc. On Friday 1st July I had a 'tour' of the boatshed. A whole hour of fascinating history, interesting information, close ups of boats in different stages of repair, the skills required to renovate and repair all the beautiful wooden craft. The experience was brilliant. I hope the rumours of the impending closure of Boatshed4 are untrue. It's also the starting place for a number of boat trips and charters of those historic ships, including RAF Rescue Launches, MTGs and the last operating Falklands Campaign Landing Craft.
