My husband and I visited the museums last month. Unfortunately, upon arrival we were greeted with very poor customer service from management. We both work for National Museums Liverpool and had planned a lovely south coast trip. Working for national museums you gain free entry to all the national museums in the UK. Therefore, we called ahead in advance to ensure everything would be okay on the day of our visit. The guy on the phone was very helpful and explained that as long as we provide our museum ID there should be no problems. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case. The manager who served us was very patronising, condescending and ignorant. I’m not sure if he was new (the brunette guy with painted nails). He had us there for around 20 minutes continuously asking our names etc and who we work for (after providing him with our ID). He exclaimed he knew nothing about it and as we explained our prior phone called, he responded with “I don’t think any guys were working that day?” Almost insinuating that we were lying? It made the vibe super weird and awkward. He finally called someone and eventually let us in. It set the day off in a negative light but we quickly decided to brush it off as we didn’t want to let his attitude ruin our day. The highlight for me was the HMS Victory - the audio tour really brought the ship to life. I think maybe the management/ staff need some training on how to deliver a high standard museum customer service. We visited on 08/07/21

Brilliant place to go. Plenty to see and a good half a day could be spent here. Firstly though, its a bit pricey to get in. By far the best value is to get an ultimate ticket which means you can go as many times all year round and then it doesn't seem so bad. When I went it was raining. And we got soaked! With social distancing you're asked to queue to get in to each attraction (restricted numbers) but there is no cover or protection from the elements outside, Warrior and Mary Rose and there's a small gazebo outside Victory so if its raining and busy bring a snorkel. If it's sunny, bring a sombrero! Mary Rose exhibition is a must see in my opinion. Staggering to see the remains that were submerged for around 400 years. And 19,000 items were excavated! Overall, a very interesting, educational place to go and a great example of Great British naval history.

One half of the museum is given over Admiral Lord Nelson with large numbers of artefacts as well as a biopic of his life and a timeline depicting both his private life and military career. The other part gives a broad perspective of the Navy down the ages from sail right through to the modern day with a fashionable and current nod to the environment. Every genre of type of display is on show from missiles to bloody models depicting shore raids in the 1800's. The human touch is very much in evidence from various live testimonies and lists of casualties suffered again another sobering experience contained within the dockyard. Time well spent and I say it from a "Pongo" point of view although I'm not so sure of the Naval ratings "going out gear"

This is a lovely museum. If you have a full navy ticket, it is definitely worth a visit. The Nelson exhibition is very impressive and has a lot of interactive elements. The main exhibition area has a surface computer which is a huge touch screen with almost limitless amounts of information. This was the most impressive part of the museum I feel. The Jolly Roger exhibition was also a lot of fun. The only disappointment was that so many of the interactive parts like the buttons under displays and the touch screen displays don’t seem to work - considering the price we pay to get in, you’d think they’d have a look at that! Otherwise, an enjoyable visit for about an hour or so.

We arrived on a sunny day with a slight breeze so that was good. We bought our tickets online for £31 each. You can park just around the corner for £7 , there's a co-op there so it's worth getting a few drinks and sandwiches if you want. After having our bags checked we went to the submarine museum across the water using the water bus which is included in the price -great!. We then did the various museums, toured Victory -great, had ice-cream (£2 for cone is fair) We also saw the Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier- not part of the museum yet though! After a break we then walked around Warrior , great , we really enjoyed it . We'd recommend it 👍

As a lover of naval history I have wanted to come here and see in HMS Victory my entire life. It did NOT disappoint!! The ship is preserved beautifully! It is an absolute marvel to behold!! The audio guide is excellent!! Walking you thought each step of the battle of Trafalgar. Even my wife who unusually doesn't enjoy audio guides listen the the einter thing. The ready of museum is magnificent as well! Tons of fascinating things to learn and plenty for everyone young and old to enjoy! The "action station" exhibit was especially fun for kids. Thai museum is a most see for anyone even remotely interested in naval history!
