Read moreI visited the Green Howards Museum to gain some knowledge of my relative - Uncle Charles - who served with the 4th Green Howards in the Second World War and was taken as a Prisoner of War.
I knew some detail about my great uncle's service before the visit. I met with Steve, who is a researcher at the museum and his knowledge was excellent.
He had researched pieces of information on Charles' wartime experience, which I was allowed to keep and he helped me further understand my Charles' Military Record, which I had taken along.

I visited to see my Grandfather's WW1 medals and was aided by a very pleasant and informative museum curator, who, without request (which I was very happy with), showed me to the medals and provided me with additional information. Thank you! In addition to this I liked the touchscreens installed which provides information about those soldiers who received the Victoria Cross. A wonderful addition. It's worth noting that parking near the museum requires a disc be displayed in your car, which can be picked up for free at the information centre in the indoor market...
