OK. So this review just covers a quick stop I did here whilst my partner was in physio at the end of the street and was about 3 weeks ago. I just wanted a coffee and knew that they did one at £2.10, so when I was seated I told the girl who served me that was what In wanted. I specifically said a £2.10 coffee and a coffee duly arrived and I drank it. It was OK. When I went to pay I was told that the bill was £2.90! I said I ordered the lower grade coffee (which seems to be a single cafetiere) but was told I had had an Americano. I said I was specific about the coffee being the £2.10 vs. and that is what I should be paying. The girl on the till said she couldn't change it, so it was £2.90. I put £2.10 cash on the counter and left, saying that is the money I have and that is what you will get. Hugely dissapointing as their mistake and then their really bad attitude. I shall not return. This seems a minor thing but suggest everyone checks their bill before paying and remembers - once they bill you they cannot amend or correct their own mistake. What a load of rubbish! I recommend Elixer Italian restaurant around the corner. Polite service, better food, better prices and a proper restaurant - not a cheap cafe with untrained and rude staff....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt is Remembrance Sunday, after remembering the armed services in Friary Gardens, we try to have lunch in town. Covid has interrupted our lives for almost 2 years. We decide to give a new cafe a try. The Little Drummer Boy Tearoom is the chosen destination after they have served us many lovely takeaway Sunday roasts during lockdown. We know how popular they are so we have booked a table. We arrive at our allotted time and they are not quite ready. At least we know we will not be hurried out. The staff are extremely friendly and very efficient. Despite them being very busy, time is taken carefully to take our drinks order and our lunch order. There is no rush. Our lunch is served in no time at all. It is very tasty and plentiful. We don't usually bother with a dessert, the recommendation of the desserts from staff makes it impossible to not have one. The staff are so right. The apple and rhubarb crumble is amazingly tasty. The bill is as surprising. Top quality at a more than acceptable cost. It was a special day made more special by outstanding food and service. Thank you Little Drummer...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI visited the beautiful and historic market town of Richmond in North Yorkshire. As I hadnāt been for some time, I was out of touch with where I could eat.
After a stranger suggested the Little Drummer Boy tearoom, I thought Iād give it a try. After only a short walk from the centre of town, I found it.
Even from the outside it looked welcoming and friendly. After going inside I was soon seated at a comfortable table and ready to browse what was on offer.
The menu has some really great choices but I opted for the āGreat Yorkshire breakfastā
This consisted of Two bacon, 2 eggs, beans, mushrooms, fried tomato, fried bread, sausage and black pudding. However as Iām not a big lover of BP, I chose an extra sausage.
It was really tasty and it wasnāt long before Iād finished. Washed down with a cup of coffee.
The place looked really tidy and well kept and seemed very popular with locals and other tourists. Definitely one to revisit again. The staff were excellent and attentive...
