The Turf Hotel — Restaurant in England

One of the dirtiest rooms I have been in. I did not know, I had to share a bathroom and shower that were both dirty and uncleaned. We were told that no one else was staying at the hotel, but there was. I think another 3 rooms were occupied. And any of the pub visitors could gain access to the bathroom. (I could hear the bathroom doors opening and closing a lot) The one bedside table was very badly damaged. There was an ironing board in our small room. The TV was on the wall at 90 degrees to the bed. The waste bin next to the sink had not been emptied. We were told we had to go to a different hotel to get our breakfast, and had to be there before 9am as the kitchen is closed at 9am. A half mile walk in the rain to get your breakfast, is not the best way to start your day. On the Friday lots of blue bags, I think laundry bags, were left outside and along the passage walkway. No safety measures were considered when these were dumped here. We would have left that hotel, but our circumstances and trying to book another place at short notice was considered. First but not the last stay at The Turf Inn. First class stay from the moment we walked through the door. Staff were very welcoming and helpful, nothing too much trouble. We had booked to enjoy the in-house "Burns Night" celebration, a wonderful evening with excellent Highland Fare, well cooked, presented, served. With a very goodtraditional Piper. We had room No 3, warm, clean, and well stocked with everything you need for a comfy stay, The bed was very comfortable with super pillows and quilt, which ensured a good night's sleep. Went into The Turf in a recent trip to Richmond. The last time we came up a year or so ago it was closed and has since reopened under new management. We went in years ago and could only go in the bar side with our dog. This time was able to go in the lounge area with our dog which was great. We really enjoyed it here. Had a great pint and the interior of the pub is warm and welcoming. The layout is really quirky over a couple of levels which worked well for us as our dog is anxious around other dogs so easily found a spot we could get him comfy in.
