Visited on Saturday for the musical firework championships, so glad to be back! Absolutely love this event! Last time we visited was a Sunday and this time they're was A LOT more people. We were told it was a sold out event, this wasn't a problem, there was adequate room in the "standing area", we were a party of 6, took our own chairs, which is permitted.... my irritation on returning to my seat was. There was a queue about 50 people long running right across the grass area where we were seated, people were bumping and standing over other people's belongings, I feel the organisers could of managed the queue better, maybe along the path around the park, the lack of toilets meant both toilet queues were massive all evening, once we moved our chairs this didn't bother us. The selection of food left a bit to be desired, literally burger, hotdogs, hogroast or chips. Most events I've been to lately have a good variety of food. There is a morrisons about 5 minutes walk from the park. Parking on princes park is a great idea, only £5 and was manned to direct you in, however trying to leave was absolute chaos, maybe a bit or direction here would have made it a bit better instead of the free for a it became. The actual firework displays were amazing as ever and I look forward to returning again next year.
My advice - bring chairs or picnic blankets, eat before or bring a picnic and make sure you sit no where near the...
Read moreAbsolutely most dangerous event I have ever been to. NO alternative to alcohol so for 10 hours you had no choice but to stick to booze. People sick and passing out. Had flask in car for tea WAS NOT allowed out under any circumstances. People with friends in wheelchairs were NOT allowed out to get coats etc later when it got really chilly. NOBODY at the event seemed to know who the DJs were in the tent. The party goers were lovely. K Klass and Basement Jaxx the big winners. Drove 258 miles for the most disappointing time yet. So badly organised. NEVER AGAIN!!! Calling this event a RAVE was a bit bold to say the least. RUBBISH EVENT put on by GREEDY PROMOTERS. Shame on you!!!! First time EVER left a party early....all because I was...
Read moreWhat a lovely park. Although there is a very small walk through park to the West of York, our largest parks are the Museum Gardens in the centre of the City and Rowntree Park. Victoria Park however is quite fabulous, a real joy to walk through. It has a lake, an area for bowling and is well kept by the local Council I presume.
All I can say is Southport has a lot to offer both in their parks, entertainment and some dog friendly restaurants.
I also want to say the road alongside Victoria Park, Rotten Row, has been lovingly planted with beautiful flowers and bushes and seems to be looked after by volunteers. I never took photos of this Park, I missed a real opportunity there but I can guarantee anyone visiting will enjoy this...
